Overall Dissapointing Experience

My experience as a resident at the Fillmore Center has been not so impressive.

At first, all was swell...the building seemed to be well maintained and the location was in close proximity to Club One fitness, Safeway, Blockbuster, and great dining. Any time I had a question, it was quickly attended to by someone in the resident services office. Laundry was onsite and cost about half as much as at the local laundramat.

I knew from the beginning that the neighborhood was a little sketchy, but when I brought this up with the leasing agent before signing, I was told that the neighborhood was improving quite steadily and that with the security offered, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

After only 6 months of living at the Fillmore Center there have been multiple shootings right outside my building, not to mention the riots in the street. We are not talking about one or two people fighting.... I am talking about a full on gang BRAWL...40 people going at eachothers throats! In fact, I just heard5 or six gunshots outside my building (there are now 14 cop cars, 2 firetrucks, and a few ambulances right outside) which is what prompted me to write this article.

However, that is simply part of living one block outside of the projects....not the fillmore centers fault...

But here is what IS their fault. In the past month there has been 3 breakin attempts on my apartment. One of which happened while one of us was at home in the shower and they made off with a brand new laptop, a playstation, and a large ammount of money. I'm just thankful no one was hurt!

I was thinking we must have been one of the first people who this has happened to considering the management had never brought it to our attention that breakins were a problem, but it seemed that anytime I shared our experience with other tenants, everyone seemed to have similar stories (break-in attempts, stolen property, etc).

Yes I know I should have expected this being in this neighborhood, but instead of the Fillmore center sending warnings to tenants about frequent break-ins and thefts, all we ever seem to get notices about are utility price increases and construction going on accross the street. After pulling a lot of teeth we were able to convince courtesy patrol this is a huge issue and that residents should recieve notices on how to make their homes a safer place to be.

If I had the choice to do it all again, I would never have moved here. My recommendation is to talk to the police about the ammount of violence in this neighborhood before you even talk to the leasing office here. For the ridiculous price you will be paying for rent, you can afford to live in a MUCH nicer neighborhood.

I been in the office many many times and the stupid lady at the from takes my messages and I never ever got a response. They suck dude, they suck.

If everyone else baked cookies, brought gifts, and bought similarly "paid" management as topfloorbob, they'd have courtesy patrol knocking on their door just as frequently...

Bob, you have smiled at me, and I have laughed with you. I, like the person who posted above, had multiple break in attempts on my home while residing at the property. I once worked there.

It just so happened that the break ins occured immediately after engineering was in my apartment . As a matter of fact, while they were in my apartment, my fiancee was there, as they hadn't expected, and a thug knocked at the door who they knew... He was shocked when he was told that he wasn't welcome.

Following my experience, I was pulled into the property manager's office to discuss securing my property... They changed my lock to a management lock which meant only management and myself had access to my key... I was also informed that they'd long suspected that the staff was responsibsle for a large number of break ins... and had been suspected for years.

Don't be so quick to knock the word of others. I imagine your home is also secured by one of these management locks...

Yes, you are correct that many, even, need someone to blame. I'd be curious to know how you stand on our occupation of Iraq... are the millions of American citizens who've protested just finding someone to blame when crying fould for the magnitude of reasons they've question our administration? I think not... and at the very least, the mountain of cries is worthy of consideration far before being snubbed with arrogance and mockery...

While I am comforted by your kind hearts, certainly you'd concur that one shouldn't need to bake cookies and be quite as hospitable as you and your wife to receive similar treatment... that should be granted to all... as they are all directly guests of the staff. Or aren't they?

I don't even believe this is a matter of agreeing or diagreeing... merely a matter of your not being privy to some of the decisions made which genuinely do needlessly make the lives of many at TFC unhappy.

You and your wife are very kind. While I cannot expect you to suddenly look disfavorably upon those you consider friends on the staff, I do hope you'll consider the possibility that many of the concerns raised on this forum are indeed truthful rather than spiteful.

HEIST!!!! This is not the forum to discuss the citizenries discontent with this administrations misguided, disgusting, criminal venture into mid east wars. That said, feel free to stop me on the property to carry on such discussions, including my service in an equally disturbing 'police action' we undertook in the 60's & 70's; a fight I participated in, being young, foolish and uninformed.

I put forth no arrogance and mock no one - unless, indeed, the poster has a personal agenda. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who's stories are legitimate. What purpose can it serve for someone who claims to have lived here 5 years ago, for instance. to come back to this site to relay their experience? You can't legitimately believe the post is valid. Certanly some have legitimate complaints, as any reasonable person would expect. But it's not that difficult to see patterns in how a large number of 'complaints' repeat the same mis spelled words, poor grammer and sorry ass theme.

As to what makes life tough for some here, I suspect you mean for the employees, not the residents, which further supports my point. I would suggest that if a person isn't happy working for the company they dust off the resume' and find another job, rather than rail against there employer like a discontented FCW Union member trying to bust Walmart.

Again with the 'cookies' !!!! I've said many times here, the cookies and other treats we offer are in appreciation for what is and always has been offered to us. On the rare occasion that someone has not met our standards for service, we have not hesitated to make that point to management, nor would we in the future. Each resident should be treated with respect; after all we are clients. But respect is a two way street. I and the Mrs have been business owner all our lives. We survive on the quality of our performance. That said, neither of us would hesitate to tell a disrespectful client to kiss our collective asses.

Please check your spelling (it's "disappointing" not "dissapointing"). Also, names (like "Fillmore") are capitalized. You used ellipses at the end of your paragraphs really for no apparent reason (suggestion: use those at the end of your argument to really drive your argument home). Lastly, "amount" only has one "m." Your argument is evident and you put a lot of passion into what you say. I would clean your grammar and repost, and you'll have a shot to get a good grade. Grade: B

Wow, where have I been? I cannot believe all the garbage on this review and these responses. I am more than happy to bake anything for anyone, just ask! Is it jealousy or pure evil that lurks here? God help us all, we certainly need it. Does anyone ever do something for someone because they enjoy doing it? I still do. Have you considered that we do what we do for the simple pleasure of a smile and a thank you? Smell those roses and that coffee, we may not be here tomorrow to do so!
