I looked at the two bed two bath. It has a very large balcony and is on the penthouse level. The staff was very nice and pleasant. After reading this database, I did some investigation on crime on my own.

I went to the police station at Turk and Fillmore and spoke to two police officers who work there. My concern wasn't so much crime on the street as crime within the complex itself. According to them (and you can reach them any time at 415-614-3400, 1125 Fillmore and they are happy to help) there is significant crime within this apartment complex.

So what is "significant"' Significant is a larger number of incidences of crime within this complex then in the surrounding complexes. Significant is what appears to be current center residents actually allowing criminals into the complex for the purpose of committing a crime. In addition, both of the policemen I spoke to believed that the cases of burglary and car theft are much higher at the Fillmore Center then at other complexes nearby. This is the station that actually responds to all 911 calls at the Fillmore Center.

The point being that this is the city and one should expect a higher number of criminal incidences within the city limits. What is unusual is the higher number of criminal incidences within this complex as opposed to others within the nearby area. We then get into the question of "inside jobs" and the like.

How or why this is occurring is beyond the scope of this forum however, if you are planning to move here, as I was, this is a very concerning point. One cannot control the fact that the city is dangerous. You can control living in a complex that has a higher then normal number of people aiding and abetting crime living in the complex.

Anyway, that's the bottom line of my research. If you are thinking of living here, call the police per the number above and they will be happy to give you the current statistics. You can also use

http://www.sfgov.org/site/police_index.asp'id=23813 map allows you to see all the crime reported in any area in SF in the last 29 days. I highly recommend it.
Thx

I'm a little confused. I went to the website listed above and typed in Eddy St. and Fillmore St.(The Fillmore Center) as a search query and what came up wasn't that bad. In comparison I searched Larkin St and Eddy St.--about 1/2 a mile east--and the screen lit up like a pinball machine--drugs, theft, vandalism, etc. Are you saying that the management is "in" on the theft, or is it the shady people in the neighborhood doing the crimes?

I found essentially the same circumstance when I put in '19th & Crespy' (Villas Park Merced). Looked like the 4th of July came early. I also looked at Buena Vista Gardens and found the same: a much higher incident of property crime than in the 'Fillmore & O'farrell' area. All 3 of my selections were similar in that they have a high concentration of apartments. TFC has over 1100. THus it is it's own city and I would expect a higher concentration of events for no other reason than the concentration of people. You can't expect the number of reports in Pacific Heights or the Marina to compare, though there was a murder 2 nights ago in the Marina. I do agree that any reasonable analysis of any area you consider as a new home should include such details - it only makes sense. That said, the information needs to be put in context, which this poster did not do. BTW, Mrs Penthouse and I had dinner last nite at the Sheba Lounge - right outside the front door of our place - and it was amazing !!!! So even if you don't live here, drop in for dinner.

This site seems to attract a type of human being that has a penchant to whine at very high decibels.

It's very interesting to read these. A friend of mine is contemplating a move here and these are very concerning reviews. What I've noticed is club_deluxe, who seems to have a stupid comment about whining posted on each negative review. I'm wondering if club_deluxe works for the Fillmore Center...
