It Gets Worse

Not only was my furniture stolen from the lobby on the move in, stuf stolen out of the laundry room, but recently my car was broken into (rear window of SUV smashed) while parked in the small, allegedly secure adjacent garage for which I pay $250/mo.! My new mountain bike was stolen out of the locked car.

When I went to report it to security after I discovered it on Easter, they had photos of my vandalized car from the night before. When I asked when they were going to get around to telling me about it, they said they had no information about who parked in the ASSIGNED spaces, so they left my car open and subject to more items being stolen from it. They also had no way of accessing any security camera tapes until the next day when their supervisor was back at work. When I spoke to the property manager the next day and suggested sending a letter to all people who parked in the garage letting them know what happened and warning them not to leave valuables in their cars, he said he'd have to consult with their attorney before doing that. It was never done. I also suggested putting a secure lock on the back door of the garage so that only people who paid to park in the small garage would have access and not just any tenant in the building. This has still not been done, although he assured me they'd look into it since what happened to me was "bad for business." He was much more concerned about "business" than he was concerned about me, my saftey and my property. When I requested some sort of compensation for what happened to me and how poorly it was handled by their staff, he said he'd have to check with his boss but then never got back to me with an answer. He also said he'd let the parking supervisor know, but two days later, I had to let him know myself about the incident.

AGAIN, RUN, DON'T WALK away from the Fillmore Center!!!!

LANGO!!!! Welcome back - been a long time. Nice that you drop in from time to time. Kinda like the old gangster movie line "Just when I think I'm out, THEY PULL ME BACK IN". It's such a great place here, you just can't stay away. 2MARKS!! Look for the silver lining. Any renter with half a brain gets renters insurance for their stuff. Unless you live in an armed fortress, you need it. Look at the burglary stats in SF, or any city for that matter. More burglaries and car break ins in the most affluent neighborhoods. Go Figure!! When they asked John Dillinger why he robbed banks his answer was profound - 'THAT'S WHERE THE MONEY IS". Makes sense to me. Car breakins are a crime of opportunity - if you leave your mountain bike in the back of your SUV in a parking garage, what do you expect? Might just as well leave your wallet and watch on the seat. Next time you go to Safeway, or even Macy's, leave your cash in the shopping cart as you wander about the place. Just a reach in to the cooler for a $3 fowty or a quick peak at the Tommy Bahama on sale and you'll be up close and personal with store security. By the way, that guy with the badge at Tiffany's practices his 'Welcome to WalMart' greeting during his breaks. On the right side of this page, under 'Finance Organizer' there is a link that says 'Renters Insurance'. Just a thought. I'll assume you have insurance on your car. They will replace your bike, as well as all that jewelry, stereo equipment, golf clubs, and the Armani you had just picked up from the cleaner. IQ TSTS FOR EVERYONE!!!! Penthouse Bob

Penthouse Bob, you are an obnoxious jerk, and the first one who should take the IQ test. Why is it that you have a hard-on for the Fillmore Apartments? I understand that you love it here and have had a fabulous experience with the neighborhood, management, security, etc. Why can't you accept that not everyone else has? Most renter??s policies come with deductibles, as do car insurance policies which by the way do NOT cover items stolen from a car. Have you ever looked at your car insurance policy you brainiac? You obviously don't have any reading comprehension skills as evidenced by the fact that you misinterpreted my entire complaint, so perhaps you should just call you car insurance co. instead (if you were actually bright enough to pass a written driving test and even obtain a license) to confirm that it does not cover items stolen from your car. Most people with half a brain are aware of that. This was not a huge public garage where anyone can park, rather a small monitored garage where only about 20 RESIDENTS park. YOU need an IQ test if you are likening this situation to leaving a wad of cash in your shopping cart at Macy's (which doesn't even have shopping carts you retard). You are clearly not getting it: Regardless of whether it was ill-advised for me to leave my bike in my locked vehicle, under a cover, barely visible in the back corner of small private garage to which only the 20 paying patrons SHOULD have access via electronic entry, there is no denying that the way Fillmore management, security and the parking company mishandled the situation was pathetic. You actually think it was acceptable for them to discover the crime, take photos, and never bother to notify me? You must realize that living in a city, we don't drive our cars every day, and it was obvious they were never going to notify me that this had happened. And don't put words in my mouth. I never said I had an Armani suit in there. I had reasonable items that many people keep in their cars. They were not in visible sight, but once the car was broken into, it would have been very easy for anyone to rifle through the glove box or center console to steal them. A simple call or note under my door from security that my car was vandalized would have been appropriate and would have avoided further risk to my property. If someone who didn't belong in the garage had mugged a resident who happened to stumble upon a car theft in progress, would you also blame that on the victim for being there at the wrong time and tell them their health insurance should cover any injuries they sustained and that they should not be angry with the Fillmore for not putting an electronic access pad on the back door of the garage? Or for not having security cameras that reached that corner of the garage? Or for not notifying other residents that such crimes were occurring in the Fillmore Garages? Again, everyone, management at this place sucks! Did I mention that at the time my lease was up for renewal, they were renting other units for hundreds less per month, but would not let me move into one of those. Rather they wanted to jack my rent up $50 more per month! Folks, do yourselves a favor and don't listen to Penthouse Bob living up in the clouds in his ivy tower with no clear grasp on reality. Go find a nice, rent controlled building with better management in a better neighborhood. (away from the gunshot wounds sustained nearby on Eddy and Laguna this past weekend).
