Fontana East Review

This is the best location in the city. Perfect views, great access to public transportation, within walking distance of the most visited tourist areas in San Francisco.
However, there are too many rules and regulations imposed by the board on the residents - no pets, no renting of the units (unless you own one of the penthouses, then the rules don't apply to you), no remodeling without board approval of the plans, etc. These rules have been put into place within the past several years. Originally, small pets (under 20 pounds) were permitted, leases of no less than 3-years were permitted, etc. Makes one wonder if this is an example of a power-hungry board, imposing its will upon the residents. The residents and hence the board, are older, in their seventies at least, and along with that goes grumpiness and a want of living in the past with stricter rules than necessary. As time goes on and the older residents "move on", perhaps Fontana East will be allowed to move into the 21st century. For the monthly maintenance fee charged to live here, there needs to be more leeway for the apartment owners. After all, this is our home and as such, we should be able to do whatever we want, as long as the other owners aren't endangered.
Residents' parking is fine. There is limited guest parking at the building, but plenty at the end of the street.
