I lived in Apt 69 for 6 years from 1975 to 1981. The building was very poorly maintained, but the rent was $322 for 7 rooms including garage and utilities.
The building was built as a residential hotel in 1908. It was the first luxury apartment built after the earthquake.
The apartment all had a 4 room suite of public rooms, all huge, entry, library, living, and dining. Every apartment had a servants room off the kitchen. The kitchen are average size since all meals were cooked in a central kitchen in the basement and sent up in a dumbwaiter to each apartment.
I wish I had never moved. I'am sure the building has been "upgraded" and the rents now start at $3000 per month.
