Yo!

Better for the price than most in SF

10/07 update: Keep liking it better. My lease is up, but I'm sure I'll renew. New 1 BR (10/06) is much quieter and has a ton of closets. I have a courtyard room with a nice little patio and the courtyard is really well kept and colorful. Lots of flowers and trees. Laundry facilities in the building with more than ample room and pretty reliable (have had a little trouble with the dryers not getting hot a couple of times). 1 block to Safeway, Walgreens and Radio Shack, 2 blocks to Trader Joe's, Cost Plus and Barnes and Noble plus a ton of tourist shops in the area (Wharf). Always something going on. About a mile to Fort Mason and 2 miles to Marina make for a nice alternative. A walk along the Embarcadero is always nice as well. Joe Dimaggio playground is only 4-5 blocks and has tennis and basketball courts, as well as another pool.

Staff is great and maintanence is very responsive to the few problems I have had. The post office service is poor, but hard to blame the complex for that. We have a nice safe package room that all the other services use, but the mail man refuses to leave anything there. I always have to go to the post office to get my packages, but that is less than 2 blocks so the only real problem is having to wait one more day to get them.

I did a lot of looking around as my lease came due, but couldn't find anything anywhere close for the price.

Original review 9/06: Have been here 6 months and have had very positive experience with the staff. They always call before they enter and have never been rude or friendly. The place is very noisy, particularly if you are on Bay Street. Not sure why it is okay for the motorcycles to make that much noise, but they do. Summer tourist season is definitely much noisier than the rest of the year. The worst part is the 12 month lease requirement. Then you discover that it is much noisier than you expected.

The place is also fairly old and is only maintained, never updated. Apartments have several layers of paint and some real sloppy painting, caulking, etc.

Now for the positives. Rent is high, but not that bad for a place with two pools and nice courtyards (which nobody ever seems to use except me). I have had two problems and received prompt corrective action in both cases. My refridgerator didn't keep things froze in the ice box part. Told them one day and got a brand new refridgerator the next. I accidently walked into the screen on my patio and poked a couple of holes in it. Management replaced the screen for free as soon as they saw it.

Health club for $20 is a real bargain. Quite a bit of equipment for that price.

Parking is also very reasonable for this city.

I like it well enough that I decided to move into a larger unit and stick around a few more years (in a quieter unit).
