If you're poor and hustling, as I was, this is as good a place as any to live. The front desk staff were alert, and I felt safe as long as I was inside the building. That said, the neighborhood is crummy. If you're a single female, you won't feel or be safe in the Tenderloin. It's not the building, it's the TL: you can't polish a turd. If you're on the noisy side of Oasis, (facing Turk and Hyde) you will have noise from the firehouse and police station and the creepy street people. Yes! The place was clean, bug-free, with a nice little kitchenette and bathroom. But if you have the means to live elsewhere, do it posthaste! If you don't have the means to live elsewhere--man up, Nancy! The TL is rough! But most importantly, don't hurt the building manager's feelings with wordplay! Jesus! There'll be a little online tiff, and people will be sad, and egos will be alternately fed & bruised. The Tenderloin, alas, will remain exactly the same.
