The Paramount Isn't Bad At All.

The Paramount is not as bad as some of the negative reviews suggest.

Parking.
If you call your car around ahead of time it will take about 10-15 minutes usually, which isn't bad at all. If you do not call down, however, plan on waiting 15 minutes if it is not busy and up to 25-30 minutes if it is busy. The parking staff is ok and I have never had any problems with them except for leaving some unpleasant smells inside the car. Hold your breath and quickly roll down the windows to solve this problem. Oh yeah, and $300 a month is a little steep compared some of the other places, but I feel a lot safer leaving my car here than some run-down little garage charging $250.

The Building.
Great gym. Pool is a lap pool not really intended for leisurely swimming and requires a gym membership, but it's still cool? I guess. The rooftop is a cool view but their ain't much to do up there except check out the view and sit in a cabana (where you can't see the view by the way). Fresh flowers in the lobby are cool, as well as the large TV display near the mailboxes (in the lobby) telling you if you have a package or not. All the staff is friendly and great. Location is top-notch (a lot of what you are paying for when renting here)- smack dab in the heart of San Francisco, blocks away from tons of shopping. Really, really, really close to the Academy of Art University (where I?m attending). Not too many bums, but they are close by. I do feel really safe here having a 24-hour concierge guarding the lobby. No close grocery store sucks a lot.

The Apartment.
The appliances in the apartment are not that nice, but better than most and work just fine. Nice bathroom. Great views (amazing at night). A bit pricy but not too bad for what you get compared to other places around. The Paramount isn't the nicest apartment building in San Francisco, but it is nicer than most. I have a small studio and I'm upgrading to a one-bedroom in a few weeks. The leasing office says the building is practically full, but at night only about half the building is lit up- who knows.

Conclusion.
If you like amazing views of San Francisco, a little bit more luxury than other places, having your car parked in a safe place, and a very good location, the price isn't that bad. If you can?t stand bums you shouldn?t live in San Francisco to begin with, or move to the very affordable Sea Cliff and live next to Robin Williams. If you don?t want to spend a bit extra, you WILL be able to find cheaper places, but they will be off the beaten path and probably in worse neighborhoods than the Paramount. I enjoy living here.
