LIVE ANYWHERE BUT HERE!

To be fair there are pros to living here:

Location: central to everything, library, theatres, downtown, MUNI and BART is outside the door on 8th and Market.

Security: good security patroling the vicinity to kick out the homeless and ensure undesirables don't hang around in the lobby looking for trouble.

Furnished: useful furnishing provided. Bed,drawers, lamp, table and chairs, sofa (if you're lucky).

Cons:

Management are very rude, unfriendly and look for any opportunity to rip you off. The half fridge in my studio broke down because of old age, I was charged $800 to replace it!!!

Maintenance charged $100 to unblock my shower (after 4 requests) after I'd moved in just under a month! They also NEVER fixed a broken window (broken when I moved in) and they tried charging me for it!

They don't give you a 3-4 day grace period for rent at the beginning of the month like most landlords. If you are a minute late and pay on the 2nd of the month, they won't hesitate to bill you a $50 late fee.

If you're locked out, they charge you $50 to open the door.

Building is old and needs serious repair.

Laundry: dryers only work on 3rd floor and 6th floor and one on the 7th and the cost is $1.75 (80% dry). No laundry facilities on ground and 5th floor. Washing machines are from the 1950s and need repairing.

The gym has 1990s machines. The carpet is dingy and dilapidated and reeks of stale sweat.

The elevator constantly has garbage on the floor. The hallways seem to be cleaned only once or twice a week.

Bathroom is tiny and apartment space is small. Kitchenette is very small and the stoves are antiques.

For the outrageous prices you pay here, consider sharing a nice $1600 2 BR with someone, somewhere, anywhere.
