I lived here for more than a year with my wife and she was here for a year on her own before we met and while we were dating.
I feel this is a good place to live for some; but not all.
You will read reviews about the mold. They aren't renting currently and will begin only when it is safe.
In the past the staff was inadequate at best. But, about ten months ago there was a change in management. Change takes time and the changes I noticed were all in the right direction. Yvonne, who has been in the leasing office for at least a couple of years is extremely helpful and the main daytime security guard (I'm forgetful) is very polite.
For these two reasons one should disregard any reviews prior to this summer.
As for the neighborhood, your not in Kansas anymore! Which isn't all bad. You're intelligent. Use your best judgement. This is the city. My wife and I never had any problems and I was much more irritated by telemarketers than anyone I encountered on the streets.
The building is virtually sound proof. But, the fire station is conveniently located two blocks north. If you stay on a lower floor you're fine. If you go high, get on the south side. This is my one big tip for you.
The kitchens have full size appliances. The one bedrooms are set up so you can actually have overnight guests AND privacy. There are many good things about the neighborhood as well. Explore the asian markets nearby. Better quality, prices and in some cases variety than Safeway.
We moved out because of the construction and we didn't want to go to a temporary apartment.

oh, you mean the South side that turns high priced apartment into an oven because they did not put windows in the upstairs units?? Idiot.
