Bed Bugs

Wrote this in the wrong place before...this building is managed by the biggest group of crooks on the planet. Just say the name "San Giacamo" (sp') in San Francisco and people wretch-say you live in a Trinity building and they shake their head knowingly. They hired, as their GM, a man who was head of security in a building running one of, if not the, largest prostitution rings in San Francisco.
There are bed bugs all over the place in the building. Management is trying to keep it quiet and save money, and by doing so has made the problem worse. They are spraying unit by unit, which just makes the bugs migrate to the next spot that isn't covered in pesticide. They are not treating adjoining units to those that are infested. I know of at least 6 people that have them, all on different floors. To make matters worse, once you get them they really start to treat you horribly. Your stuff is damaged, your place unlivable, and they still demand that you pay rent (even though you can't sleep in your bed and have to live out of garbage bags).
Honestly, just ask around. Say you are thinking about living in a Trinity building and see how people respond.

I've been living in this building for 10 years and recently found bed bugs in my unit. I told my manager and she blamed me for bringing the bugs to the unit. She used to say hi to me but not anymore. The Terminix people will come by this afternoon to treat my unit and I've been told that I'll have to pay out of my own pocket for the treatments. I don't know what needs to be done after the first treatment. Should I vacuume the floor? Where should I sleep? Are they going to evict me?...I'm scared, really scared. By the way, what building did you live in? I live in the building that faces Mission Street.

you should call the housing rights commission, contact the chronicle and any other news publication you see fit and contact a lawyer. I'm sorry, I know it's scary but they are WAY outside of their rights in the way they have been handling this situation-i am shocked they haven't learned their lesson yet. Bedbugs are near impossible to get rid of. Go to bedbugger.com, it's a great resource. Unfortunately vacuuming won't do much-nothing will-and Trinity won't treat the problem properly so it'll just continue to go on. They feed only on people, and they can go 18 months without eating. If you got rid of everything you owned you wouldn't be assured of getting rid of the bugs. They hide in the walls. Don't let them strong arm you into thinking you have to pay for this-that is nonsense. And I guarantee one spray won't do the trick. Good luck!
