Why This Complex Is Underrated.

I now realize, currently living in this complex, that people are more inclined to write a review if they feel negatively towards the subject. If one has a positive experience, they are less likely to write a review because customers generally expect such an experience as it is purchased by them. The legal and psychological term for this is called Entitlement -

"A concept or societal phenomenon expressing the expectation of people that their desires and wants are their legitimate needs which society can and must fulfill."

Along with this, it's also important to keep in mind that, on this site, there are roughly 49 reviews of varying degrees dating back to 2002. This complex holds well over 200 tenants at any given time, and given San Francisco's inherently high apartment turnover rate, the amount of customers since 2002 is fairly extensive. Just to clarify, it's not that those individuals who reviewed this complex negatively did not actually have a negative experience, they probably did, but the probability of more satisfied individuals, due to the sheer volume of current and past tenants compared to the amount of reviews on this site, is very high.

Now to my thoughts about the complex itself. It's not the cheapest place you can find in SF however; keep in mind that this is a modern building. Negative plumbing, water pressure, electrical, and structural issues are less likely to occur in a modern building like this compared to your average cute, uniquely San Francisco style apartment. And yes, the building is technically located in the official tenderloin district however, the portion that SF residents would readily recognize as the tenderloin (bad) area is roughly 6 square away near the Market street corridor, and as residents of this city will know, even a block or two exhibits a completely different scenery.

The employees of the property do their job as outlined, nothing more. This is hardly a negative aspect; you're not living with them after all. If you expect lavish and personal treatment, move somewhere lower in population and higher in price where much of your rent is providing the means for such service.
The facilities are just fine; the front door to the complex opens, the elevator works, the hallways are generally clean and quite, your keys to your apartment door unlocks it, and SHAZAM, your in your personal living space where you can live how you like (within reason). There are built-in light fixtures, plenty of power sources, a disposal, and a dishwasher, all of which are not always easy to come by for a middle class apartment in San Francisco.
The extras this complex offers are great for what is payed for rent. The pool and hot tub have clean water, the gym has somewhat above basic equipment, and the view is better than most could get downtown and for the same price.
The only gripe I have so far is in the lease agreement. It seems to limit what you can do as far as decorating the interior. For example, it seems as though there is no painting of the walls or replacing their standard Vinician blinds with your own. But perhaps this is all legal tongue and cheek stuff anyway where you actually can get away with it just fine.
Bottom line- The rooms are nice depending on taste, this is not the Hilton so the amenities are just fine, the area is more representative of what a big city is like (both positive and negative), and for a mid-line apartment, it's priced adequately. You might have noticed that I've used a lot of terms like "just fine" or "adequately" or "basic." To me, these terms describe an apartment that the average person should feel great about living in.
