I lived there for a more than 2 years and finally decided it's not worth it and moved out mid 2003.
The inside of this complex is great. The outside is not that safe, as you can easily see if you drive by at night, parked cars broken into and stuff.
But, the bigger problem is the management. When you are there as new tenant, they treat you real nice to attract you to sign the lease. But, as soon as your lease expires, you get into the headache if you decided to renew. They will try to rip you off first by sending you a letter with the notice to increase the rent. Then you have to call the manager up, which is a pain in the ass ----- (pardon the language), and try to negotiate and negotiate and re-negotiate.
She will act as if the tenants are all in her mercy and have to fit into her schedule and mood. She will try to make the renewal process so painful to negotiate hoping that you will say forget about it and just pay the rip-off increase.
She didn't have the concept in her little world that most the people living in SF are busy people with little time to worry about this kind of thing. She thinks that her job as the complex manager is the most important job in the whole world. WAKE UP!!!!!!
The sales staff are all nice, but they don't have power for existing tenant.
All in all, if you really want to live there, make sure that you only live for the duration of your first lease. If you plan to live beyond that, be prepare to get rip off or go through painful negotiation by the manager attitude.
In my opinion, after living there more than 2 years and went through this pain 3 times, if they replace the manager, this will be a much better complex to live in.
So, now I am out and love my new place much better. I should have moved out since the expiration of my first lease.
