TOO MUCH HASSEL

Let me just say that the management was horrific in dealing with me and my potential roomate ina proffesional manner. They started out nice and everything seemed wonderful. At first we wanted a 3 bdrm 2 bath in the Tower section of the rentals. Then one of our roomates wanted out of the deal so the management offered us a two bedroom, and we accepted. It was 2100 for the 3 bedroom and 1400 for the 2 bedroom so we said it would be fine... We had already submitted our aplications for the 3 bedroom so we used those form for the 2 bedroom. They told us that we needed cosigners since we were students. We offered to pay the whole years lease up front in order to not have the cosigners since we wanted to begin a good credit record in our own names. They said that basically our money wasn't good enough... They refused to raise our security deposit as the alternate option. They told us that it was no option for us... when clearly on the aplication form if you dont meet approval then you have 2 options, a cosigner or a raise in the security dep. We were so upset because they were making up their own rules. Then they threatened that they could rent out our apartment for 2000$ a month to someone else. My roomate and I had traveled up to San Fran a 2 months early so that we could get a cheaper rate. Then we knew the real reason that they were hasseling us so teribly is because they wanted to rent to a higher paying customer. I found this website and was reading all the horrible reviews about the staff and a few names were mentioned and I am afraid to say that those are the people that I was directly working with.
Needless to say we caught her* in a number of lies and when we asked about our concerns they were brushed aside. We asked about the screens for the windows and said that before we move in there would be screens right' The reply was vague and she informed us that there were only screens for the bedrooms and not the living rooms, we asked if in the summer there were a large ammount of mosquitos and she adamintly stated NO NEVER!! We were told that there are 2 elevators per building when in plane fact there is only one. She would tell me one thing and my roomate another. She would say "Oh I already called her" when infact she never had. She talked to us as if we were mentally challenged, talking really slow and condesending... she even spoke this way to my roomates mother, her mother had to actually say "Okay huury up I understand you." Then when My roomate informed her that we had no intention of renting under the need of a cosigner, she said ok and then called me that same day to say that she had spoken to her manager and they wanted to tell me that they would still rent to me if I wanted it.
I believe that it is not worth the hassel you are much better off renting out a flat a few blocks away where it is only 1200 or 1250 and your utulities are included, often the washer and dryer are included too. Good luck and I hope that you all make the wise decision. Stay Away.
