overall, the village sucks and i would say seriously try and find somewhere else to live before moving there. i lived there for a year and was, from what i hear, extremely lucky to have a nice roommate experience and definitely enjoyed being on campus so I could get to class no problem. however, the few good things about it are WAY overshadowed by the really bad parts about living in the village. first of all, the staff is really rude and unhelpful, have hours for certain offices that turn out to be closed when you show up, and dont seem to have their act together! they changed the locks on our apartment and didnt bother to tell us, so we sat in the hall for hours. they dont honor any requests to have old residents mail re-directed to their new apartments. the staff is pretty much incompetent, except for the maintenance staff. they were always courteous and honored all appointments when you scheduled help with them to fix a faucet or anything you couldnt do yourself.
pricewise, the village is a complete rip. they charge 800 per person to share an apartment with 3 other people, which is outrageous!! if people are concerned being close to campus, rent at park merced. its just as close and can be a LOT cheaper. im sure it has its problems as well, but as someone who lived at the village i dont recommend it. too expensive and LAME!
