Decent Experience, But Too Expensive

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
I lived at this SFSU dorm during the Summer 2008 semester, and it wasn't bad for me. The apartment itself is pretty good, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, and kitchen. I shared the place with 3 other roommates; 2 of us had our own bedrooms and the 2 others shared one. The apartment comes with a cable connection in every room, but internet is extra and it's pretty expensive especially if you get the faster speeds. It also comes with a meal plan at the dining hall, but the food there is TERRIBLE... I only went there as a last resort. There's also a Subway and a convenience store that sells awful pizza and sandwiches right in the complex. A ClubOne fitness center is located right in the building which is pretty small, but membership is reasonably priced and it gets the job done. The best aspect of living at the dorms was the fact that it's right on campus. I could get to class in about 5 minutes and during long breaks, grab some lunch and eat it at my desk while watching TV or get some studying done. The worst part, as with any dorm, is the random roommates you get stuck with. I shared a wall with my roommate and he occasionally made a lot of noise and had a couple annoying guests over. The other two roommates were barely there, probably because they wanted to avoid each other as much as possible. If you're stuck sharing a room with someone else, forget it, it's not worth it. The room is way too small for two people and it could be hell if you guys don't get along. Most of the time though, it was fairly quiet throughout the summer. I barely saw or interacted with any of my roommates. Oh yea, did I mention the goddamn silverfish infestation'' They were freakin everywhere! No matter how many I killed, they just kept coming back! I'm talking like one per day. And they weren't regular solid colored ones... they were some mutated striped species that moves twice as fast. Nasty little bastards. Not to mention the weather's always foggy, windy, and cold (this was June-August). Overall, living there wasn't bad, but it's way overpriced. For $1500/mo, I'd rather live in a nice apartment in SOMA and just take the Muni M line down... which is what I'm doing in the fall.
