The basic problems of living in this bizarrely blended community are these--while there is a wild diversity of people living on the island, there seems to be no consensous of how to deal with each other and no attempt is being made to smooth this out. Small children run wild in the streets at all hours of the day and night. Loud parties are allowed to go on well past "quiet hours" with no consequence, but park your car in the wrong place and it is a $50 fine. While there is a gardening staff, they do little more than water the sidewalks and sit in their golfcarts. In other neighborhoods people are expected to move their trash cans into their storage areas, not here--there is trash strewn all over our street. The Job Corps members are rude to other MUNI patrons and nothing is done to correct this--despite requests. The island has been pretty much left to self-police itself and it is not a very successful environment. While the units are serviceable, I would not recommend moving out here. I'm outta here as soon as my lease is up.
