I have been trying to contact my so-called resident relations officer for about two weeks. He lies about which e-mail address I should be using and does not return phone calls.
Tenants throw microwaves, computer monitors, and televisions out of their windows, so be careful walking around the buildings. I just got off the phone with the security office and was told that the guards weren't responding to certain calls because it wasn't worth risking their safety for $12 an hour.
In the apartment downstairs from me, a girl is screaming and it sounds like she is being beaten. I have called the police, but Parkmerced isn't going to do anything about it.
So yes, if you believe all the pretty pictures on the billboards and the sides of the muni buses, then go ahead and move in. If you have any complaints or issues later, be assured that you're on your own--no one's going to help you.

It's about 6:10 pm on Saturday, May 19th, 2007. One of the elevators in the building was not working AGAIN so I decided to take the stairs rather than waiting 6 minutes for the elevator. There was something slick and slippery on the steps and I fell down two flights. The stairwell reeks of urine, by the way, and I'm not sure if that's what I slipped in or not, but I suggest (for about the fiftieth time) that the maintanence group keep the stairwell and fire escapes clean. You're lucky that there wasn't an emergency and involving an evacuation with more people, and that it was I who fell and not an elderly person or a child who is more fragile. Given the lack of response I have had to issues like this in the past, I wholly doubt anyone will take this seriously.

I agree! The beautiful, well-kept management building is the polar opposite of the quality of the buildings and units. Perhaps if there was a college student urinating off the roof of the management office while the shooting range was "going off" and someone was breaking into your car, you might not want to rent there.

I dodged the bullet on this one. When I moved to SF 2 years ago,Parkmerced was the first place I tried. I sent them a fax and left messages and they never called me back. I'm glad, I heard they are now going thru a rent scam class action lawsuit. I ended up at SOMA Residences in my loft and have never been happier. It was the best decision I made not pursuing Parkmerced, otherwise I would have never found this loft!
