I lived in these apartments (tower at 125 cambon) while I attended SFSU for 1.5 years. I even changed apts withing the same tower from 1bd to 2bd, going from 4th floor to the 11th. I really don't understand all the complaints ppl are posting here. Yea there was a change in management, but I never really had any problems with the new people either. I paid my rent on time, and whenever I needed some kind of repair in my apt, someone would take care of it within a day or two. Sound wasn't a problem for me either. I lived in a 1bd on the 4th floor and regularly slept with windows open...never got woken by the partying people. Of course, if anyone is going to live in apartments that are located right across from a university, they shouldn't be surprised to see student acting like clowns. However, I wasn't into the whole partying scene and just minded my own business and there was nothing that riled me about what others did.

Like others have mentioned, these apartments are old...but there are benefits to that as well. First, they're very spacious. Of course, you pay for every inch of that space in your monthly rent (my only gripe while living there). Also, the walls are solid concrete and very sturdy. They insulate the sound well, which is why I never heard the couple next door who were always fighting each other. I know they fought because I would hear them when I would step outside my front door, or when they would open theirs. Of course the drawbacks are things like the lead paint, and my tower had a notice that said that this building has asbestos in it but it's been insulated or something. I survived all that fine, and so did everyone I know.

I don't have any complaints about cleanliness either. People reading these reviews must consider the sheer number of apartments here. Of course some will have problems like mold or whatever (I didn't), and they're going to want to vent their frustrations somewhere. Anyways, I have no complaints about cleanliness and I never saw anyone pissing in the bushes or the fire escape or saw urine afterwords. I didn't even know people did these type of things until I read some of these reviews. Yes, some people did do stupid things like throwing mattresses out their apt windows, or even worse like tossing a crt monitor from the roof at the end of the semester but the grounds keeping crew always cleaned up these type of things. Occurrences like these were the exception, not the norm and that monitor tossing thing happened once, and I'm pretty sure it was done by those psycho gamer guys that lived next door to me when I was living on 11th floor.

In any case, if you're a student, then these will do you fine. Just make sure you know and trust your roommates because there's no way in hell anyone can afford any of these apartments by themselves.

I absolutely agree with you. While the past landlords found devious ways to increase rents and the rent Board consisting of 5 out of 9 landlords, huge rent increases were made with the sanction of the Rent Board. Various problems you mentioned are the faults of the TENANTS! Fighting, dirty, loud parties, pissing all over the place, leaving food in the lobby etc. Maybe we need to find a way to punish (a fine) those who abuse the house we ALL live in. I have been here 13 years and the major problems accelerated with the influx of the students. This landlord has my approval for what is currently happening here. Service, maintenance and concern. I am not happy with their future plans of adding more apartment houses and destroying the small building. IT'S A 20-30 YEAR project so I may not be here by then.

this apartment community sucks. even though they say its not student housing, it definitely is expensive student housing. most of the units have no dishwasher, the bathroom sink has no counter, the bathroom is extremely small and most of the rooms are small. does this not sound like student housing? student housing = small rooms, smaller kitchen, least amenities and crazy prices. the parking situation is also not great. you have to pay 100$ a month to get a fixed spot. they also have high rises. if you drive by them, they look run down and disgusting. they def have done a good job in maintaining the lobbies of the high rises. the have taken over all the area south of SFSU leaving very few other options. these properties were build in 1940 making it very very old. im not gonna stay in this pathetic community.
