I've had several friends who have lived at 101 san fernando prior to me, and i decided to overlook their negative comments and see for myself. bad decision. the location and appearance are excellent. it's lovely to have a 24 hour gym and lounges for entertaining. but there are a number of drawbacks. the management is completely unfriendly and unhelpful. due to a clerical error on their part, the water bill was never transfered from the old occupants name to mine, fast forward 6 months later and i recieve a bill from the management office saying i owe the amount for the water used, plus accrued late fees, all totaling to about $400. I had no issue paying for the water usage, but i didnt want to pay late fees on a billi never new existed!! when i spoke with them about this they admitted that it was their mistake for not changing the name on the account, but told us we had to deal directly with the water company to get the late fees removed. they refused to assist us in negotiating with the water company, and durng the process of phone tag that ensued they even gave us a 3 day notice of eviction if we did not pay the whole amount of the bill even though they were aware we were trying to resolve the late fees with the water company. needless to say, we had to pay the bill and the late fees in order to avoid eviction, and were told we would recieve a credit on our account(which of course never happened).
The office staff seems very put upon whenever you approach them, and most often refer you to their superior. however, when messages are left for the office manager they are rarely returned. i honestly feel that for what you pay for these apartments they could be a little friendlier. little gripes, the construction is shoddy in some areas, some walls are cracked, several of my neighbors and i have been unable to get the dishwashers to rinse off soap, even after running a second cycle with no detergent. also, no overnight guest parking which can be a drag. the spa area is barely that, its a concrete walled in patio with a tub that i imagine could fit 6-8 people at most. apartments facing the street seem to get a lot of noise.
the location is really convenient, and the granite countertops, high ceilings, and abundance of storage are great. Also the bedrooms are a nice size (walk in closets)!!!! would i move there again' no. but its not ALL bad, perhaps i had a more negative experience than most. oh and i havent moved out yet, but according to thos i know who have, dont dream of getting a penny of your deposit back.

omg! this is all so true. I wish I read this before I moved in. I have 5 months left on my lease and I can't wait to live. Don't forget that they are like 3 different keys, all electronic or smart, that are needed to get from one part of the building to another. And if you lose one...50 dollars each, please. If you have a bf or gf, you won't be able to get them a key, too. I had to beg for a key for my 12 y/o daughter. Apartment itself is nice, minus the dishwasher which sux. But the fire alarms that go off at odd times of the day or night are awful.

Another loser. Won't you just give your apartment # instead? You stupid negative people are just plain irresponsible yourselves. I got my deposit back. So what's the deal if you live like a pig and pretty much destroy your place? hell it takes more than your little deposit to fix it up.
