I have lived at Almaden Lake Village for 2 1/2 years. During the boom in the Valley, I got my rent bumped up every six months. (But, what renter in the Valley didn't') Other than that, I really like this place. The light rail stops right outside so I can take it to work in the morning without a hassle. The lake across the street has bike paths that run back into the Almaden Valley. I rode them a lot last summer.
The original office staff was okay but the three gals that work there now are wonderful. They're really nice and a lot of fun.
There were a few annoyances originally. The fire alarms kept going off but that was because new tenants thinking they were being sneaky tried to disconnect the main alarm in their unit. Well, when you do that, it sets the system off because they are all interconnected. That seems to have stop since the management notified everyone that any tampering would result in eviction. A friend of mine works for the San Jose fire department and he used to tease me about all the times he had to come over for false alarms. I need to send him an "I miss you" card since it has been almost a year since the last time they had to come out.
The only other annoyance I can think of is that the two bedroom unit that I am in lacks storage space, so my roommate and I have stuff crammed into the front entry closet.
One recommendation, though, if you get a place here, try to get one overlooking the lake. The VTA parking lot isn't as pretty to look at. I know. I have stared at it for 2 1/2 years! :)
