I like it here

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
I've lived here for about 4 months and I really like it here. When I moved in, I made sure to choose an apartment on the top floor, because I didn't want to hear people walking around above me - this is a problem at many apartments, not just this one. I think that's just common sense - if you live on a bottom floor, you're going to hear your neighbors.
Lots of people have complained about the parking, but I really think they have a lot of parking here. It does kind of suck that you have to pay for a carport or garage, but I'd rather pay the $35 for the carport and have a guaranteed spot than worry about parking. However, my boyfriend is over all the time, and he's never had a problem finding a spot somewhere in the complex (not necessarily right by my building), even when he comes over late at night (past 10:00pm). I walked around the complex once at around 9:00pm and saw tons (25 spaces, maybe) of open parking. Granted, it was way in the back of the complex, but still there were lots of parking spots.
One complaint I can vouch for is the noisy water heater. It is on my balcony and I can hear it from the bedroom, even though the living room is between the bedroom and balcony. The noise doesn't really bother me, but if someone is a light sleeper, it would probably be a problem.
So far (knock on wood) I haven't had any ant problems, which a lot of people seem to complain about. When I moved in and did a walk through with one of the leasing agents, she noticed that the kitchen linoleum was bubbling. It was replaced within a couple of weeks, along with the linoleum in the bathroom (so that both rooms would match). It would have been replaced within a couple of days, but I had too many unpacked boxes in the kithen so the floor couldn't be replaced.
Some people have complained about the car dealership lights - where I am at in the complex, it isn't an issue, although I could see how it might be on the other side of the complex. I also feel very safe here, even though some poeple have complained about the surrounding neighborhood.
I haven't had to deal too much with the staff, although when I have, they've been freindly enough.
One more complaint I just remembered - when I moved in, no one told me that the apt was wired for AT&T. A few days before I moved in I called Pac Bell (SBC) to set up phone service. When I didn't have working phone service after a few days, I called to see what the problem was. Apparently, because the house is wired for AT&T, Pac Bell was going to have come out and do some wiring stuff in order for my service to work. Luckily I didn't have to pay anything for it, but Pac Bell used to charge people over $100 to do that. The Leasing agents I spoke with before I moved in (two of them) should have made it clear about the AT&T thing.
The guy they recommend to get your cable service through is a little slow (not all there), but I was able to get service in a reasonable amount of time.
One other thing, too, is that the stairwells are very narrow - I don;t have any really big furniture, but even so, getting everything up to the third floor was a chanllenge.
Except for a few minor things, I would highly recommend this complex. I really like it here
