We have been with Archstone for several years now. Originally at the Richmond, Marina Bay which sucked. We were in richmond, what do you expect.

The ability to transfer to any other Archstone community without breaking your lease or paying a new deposit is a great feature.

The elementary school down the street is excellent and within walking distance. There are good parks nearby. We are 15 minutes from downtown san jose, and right in the middle of everywhere southbay, without sitting on top of a freeway.

We have been very happy here at Willow Glen. Yes there are dogs that bark, be we have a dog and live with other dogs...it happens.

There is dog crap from losers who don't pick up after their dogs. But for the most part it is limited to a few small areas that are easy to avoid. On rainy days you can smell the horse/sheep barn across the creek, but i grew up on a ranch so it feels like home.

Apartment living at it's finest, there are neighbors who make noise. I have NEVER heard the neigbors to either side of me. Occasionally hear the guy upstairs and his washing machine, but it's not bad. The buildings are newer so the insulation is very good. Much, Much quieter than some of the older condo's/apartments i've been in. The water heaters are really noisy, but you get used to it in a couple of days.

They typically empty the garbage in a timely fashion. Yes, the front gate has broken, but they've fixed it. I've never seen anyone repairing cars in the parking lot. Parking SUCKS if you come in after 10pm. But you can rent a covered space for $20.

Many of the apartments are corporate apartments, so your neighbors change pretty frequently, but they are all there on business. Many traveling nurses as there are several hospital facilities nearby.

They did jack my rent up on renewal, but the deposit is super low, and i have a big dog. Even after it went up, it's still lower than/the same as a comparable apartment.

One of my neighbors was complaining about crime. They were idiots. If you leave a garage open every day with bicycles and other gizmo's and gadgets. The kids will steal your stuff.

As far as apartment living goes...Especially if you have a dog..you'd be hard pressed to find a better place.
