Updated info. - 7/19/2004 * I cannot wait to move!!!!!

From: -Anonymous-

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004

I just moved in on September 9th, 2002.

I signed a 12 month lease.

I read all of these reviews after I moved in and I freaked out. I thought, oh my Lord, there will be ants and the management will be horrible.

(July 2004) **UPDATE: The pedestrian gate is going to make me lose my mind! The Management refuses to give residents a key to enter from the outside stating that it is an exit only gate. Whatever! All of the residents are very angry, to put it mildly. The Management keeps "fixing" the lock on the gate (that somehow keeps getting broken...LOL), but then, when I asked for a second Car Gate clicker, I was told that they could only give me one since mine is the only name on the lease. So, bascially, even though they promise to fulfill your every wish as though it were your home, not just an apartment, they will not give me a $5 piece of plastic crap to make my life easier so I can enter my own apartment!!!! Again, don't move here. It's way more trouble than it's worth and I cannot wait until my lease is up in March 2005 to get the hell out!

(October 2003) **UPDATE: I am still here. I resigned an 18 months lease only because it is such a huge deal moving in and out (stairs) that its easier to stay. Plus the complex is fairly quiet and thats nice. The management STILL hasnt fixed the outside of the building (mainly cosmetic) from when they fixed my A/C when I first moved in. That means its been over a year and its still not done. Go figure. I finally tired the smaller pool thats in the back of the complex and it has been clean every time Ive gone. The hot tub and pool bathrooms are also clean. So, the rear pool is a plus.

When I signed my new lease, they wanted to RAISE my rent! I fought them on it and they agreed to keep it the same. They wouldnt lower it, even the way the economy is now. Very annoying, but considering that I paid $1300 to the movers to get me in there, it seemed cheaper just to stay.

They supposedly have on-site security guards now, but Ive never seen evidence of one.

(December 2002)**UPDATE: I so regret moving here. Theres been nothing but one problem after another. The apartment seems nice, but at closer inspection its not. The workmanship is very shoddy. For example, the bathroom sinks are made of plastic! I have recently had a MAJOR ant problem for the past 4 days, and Im on the third floor! Im not going to bother asking management for help, because it will just mean more inconvenience for me. If I get the ants to stop long enough, I will caulk underneath the kitchen counters (which have a huge space without caulking underneath). Another wonderful thing is that everytime I turn on the heater, it makes a loud god-awful noise. Thats great in the cold weather because I feel guilty for making noise when I have to turn it on. Again, Im not going to bother with asking the management for help. They STILL never finished fixing the outside of the building (that they tore apart when they took 3 weeks to fix the A/C when I moved in). Its been over a month and a half and no one has ever bothered to finish the work. Typical.

I officially change my answer to "NO". I no longer recommend living here.

(September)Heres what happened so far:
I had 4 minor maintainance issues (ice maker, small crack in wall by window, a small patch that needed a paint touch-up and a missing blind slat). All were addressed and fixed in one business day. The managment (Angel Flores) and the maintainance (Tim & Mark) were polite, responsive and fast in fixing the problem.

I had 1 major maintainance issue (the A/C did not work). Angel and Tim coordinated a HVAC guy (Dave) for me in one business day. The problem was completely fixed within 2 hours. Dave was also polite and helpful. *** UPDATE *** The A/C that I thought was fixed was not. It stopped working again 24 hours later. It is finally fixed again after 2 and a half weeks and 3 additional visits from the subcontractor. It was a major problem with the equiptment. One note though, is that they sent a wonderful A/C guy out (his name is Al) to fix it. If it werent for him, I wouldve ripped out my hair in frustration!

Moving in:

Oh Jeez! I picked a 3rd floor apartment and there is no elevator. There are 38 stairs from ground to 3rd floor. While it is getting easier now to deal with, moving in was torture. It took 3 very good movers 11 hours to finish (company was Motivated Movers). I thought it was going to kill them. They said that they are adding this complex to their difficult move-in list.

I am setting up a Safeway.com account as soon as humanly possible. Bringing up groceries is like getting a major workout. :)

About the apt.:

I picked the 1002 square foot, 1 bedroom/1 bathroom unit. It has more than enough space! There is even a "den", which means that it is technically a 2 bedroom apt. I am using this extra room as an office, but it could be used as a bedroom also.

I have a nice size balcony. I noticed that the smaller the 1 bedroom apt. you pick (they have 3 sizes), the larger your balcony/patio area is. I have the smallest of the 3, but it is more than large enough for me.

There is tons of cabinet space in the kitchen. The refridgerator is kind of small, but ok for one person. The full-size washer and dryer in the apt. is wonderful. It is separated by a door, so that cuts down on the noise of doing my wash.

The bathroom is very large. It has a wonderfully large tub, not a small one like you get in most apts. The only thing I really hate about the bathroom is that the sinks are made of plastic. I dont mind that for the tub, but it is murder keeping plastic sinks clean.

The bedroom is a nice size. The walk-in closet is great. There is tons of space in there. There is a shelf that runs along 3 walls and the clothes bars are installed at different levels to accomidate your clothes.

Just a note of advice, when setting up your phone line and digital cable, do not use the recommended AT&T rep, Tom Tomkins. I had poor luck with him in getting anything done. I ended up dealing with AT&T directly and they were absolutely wonderful and went out of their way to help me correct the problems.

Other stuff:

This complex allows pets. I paid a large deposit for my cats. The only thing is that they charged me $35 per cat for pet rent. I dont get the idea of pet rent, especially since I paid a large deposit, but oh well.

Parking is a major nightmare. I gave up my covered spot because my Ford Ranger doesnt fit in the spot. I am now parking outside the security gate on the street. This appears safe so far. I can see my truck from my bedroom window, so thats actually nice.

The walk-in gate is weird. I think there are a few on each side of the complex. It has a lock and locks if you close it, but the residents are not given keys for this door and the lock has not been changed so that we can have keys. To be nice, the neighbors gently set the gate closed so it won't lock, but the wind sometimes slams it closed. In this case, one has to walk all the way around to the car security gate and go the long way. Its just kind of a hassle.

The grounds are well maintained and have looked nice every time Ive walked around them.

The gym is small, but clean. I went in once and it wasnt crowded.
