Haven't rented yet but went in for a walk through

Haven't rented yet but went in for a walk through and to check out the place (3x). I can not understand why in the world this place is priced the way it is'''' The management will even let you know that the price does seem to increase everyday. Yes, this place appears to be calm, clean, in a (seemingly) safe neighborhood, and pretty new (they say it's only 5 years old).

Back to the rent amount for this place... for $1,445.00 to $1,625.00 one would think this place would provide some sort of... oh I don't know ANYTHING!!! Here is what was told to us

No utilities are provided with the rent.
No assigned parking first come first serve.
$33/mo. for covered parking
$75/mo. for garage parking
Gated: One gate opener per person that opens only one gate (and that gate only!).
No elevators: 3 level complex --- good luck with the heavy stuff and those narrow stairs

In a way I feel that I am being ripped off & but hey what can you do right' There is no way anyone can make them lower the rent. Just got to make sure this place lives up to its promises if and when I do start living here. They say that the rent does not tend to increase very much when your lease is up at the end of the 11mo., but that is what they say now.

I suppose what you pay for is the fact that this place is still pretty new, washer and dryer are within each unite, along with the "state of the art" gym, and lastly the square footage of their apartments are not too bad. Other than these couple amenities I still don't get the price.

However, I have been looking for a new apartment for close to two weeks now. This place has been the ONLY place that I have loved for its layout and over all look and feel of the community. The other apartments I have looked at have been below par. Like they say you get what you pay for. Also, the ladies that helped us out have been nice, and very helpful. Lastly, this area in San Jose has been recommended to us by a few friends that live near by.
