I've lived at Archstone for 4 years. I was very happy here until a new manager came. She is very nice in person, but the results of her management and the rent increase are forcing me to leave. When I moved here 4 years ago the gates to the outside were always locked. Now the locks are all broken and they are "waiting for the right materials" to fix it. Even though first of three requests to fix the gate was made in February 2007. They fixed it once in June and it was broken in a week. The gate is metal and spring loaded. So count on it banging when people come and go at all hours of the night. So the property may look secure- but it is not. Just waltz on in the pedestrian gates or wait until you can piggy back at the main gates. Someone is always coming and going. By the way my rent was $1290 in Oct 2004 and is planned to be $1651 in two months. They went from designated pet friendly buildings to entire property now pet friendly. I got a notice for hearing on condo conversion for this place about 14 months ago. They will play dumb if you mention it. I think they are raising rents to empty the place in preparation for the conversion. I could be wrong but they can kiss my ass regardless. Dog piss on all the building corners, no locked gates, no confirmation of service requests being complete unless you go on line to check. Parking sucks - but I have a garage. And the water heaters will bang all night long the more hot water your neighbor uses. They are located on the balconies. Goodbye Archstone Willow Glen. You were a jewel in the beginning but are now clearly borderline "dressed up ghetto." Oh I forgot the solicitors that love stopping by to sell their candy and magazines. And to the Brahmin Bull that lives above my apartment- I'm going to make sure I tell your boyfriend you have other "guests" come over before I exit. It's the least I can do for hearing you trot like a 300 pound man above my head since you moved in a few months ago. Yup I'm feeling vindictive. Feels great....

I had exactly the same experience. It was good initially (except for the sucky upstairs neighbor who had loud sex in the middle of the night!!) but once she moved out it was good for a while. Then the management changed and the place started going to dogs (literally looks like!!). Moved out as soon as our lease was up. Before they raised our rent to those atrocious amounts. Yeah we felt the same that maybe they are trying to drive people away so they can make condos out of the place.

It used to be nice there. My wife and I moved over a year ago now because of the management and the harassing neighbors around us. Rent's look out of control now. Also, the people that live above you probably aren't totally to blame. We found out the hard way that they don't replace the padding under the carpet when they replace the carpet, so some houses don't have any insulation under the carpets. Tip toeing can sound like jumping jacks when it's like that.

Can you say ditto, ditto, ditto. Same exact experience. I lived there for three years, the first two were paradise. The grounds were beautiful, the employees were friendly, helpful and kind. The last year, with new management, was not so paradise. Dogs were allowed in all buildings, which is how I was released from my lease. Somebody mentioned dog pee on the corner of every building, don't forget the dog poop on EVERY lawn. Iron bars stuck under every stairwell, new, unmatching paint on the ground, "new" pool furniture, but only 8 chairs for over 400 residents. Rents through the roof, fire alarms in the middle of the night. Loud parties, police called. Every bit of these complaints came in the final 6 months of living there. Oh, I almost forgot, they cleared out my garage one night and rented it to someone else with an "Oooops" as the response the next morning! I was so thankful to be able to move out when I did.

LOL You know you could be right so I won't be so bad on her. It must be the management and their corporation being inept and cheap. I can't wait to get the Hell out.
