I lived here in 2006 with my boyfriend. In fact, I'm the very woman the comment below me is referring to. So if I may, a few actual facts about my stay here.
I moved in with my boyfriend in June 2006. Everything was fine - we even got an additional parking spot. But then it started to get warmer and we had to chase flies out of our apartment - no screens on the windows even on the 7th floor.
Then of course, the boombox guy out on the corner of 5th and Santa Clara street every Saturday morning.
Oh and on those hot summer days, you better find a portable A/C because there's no cooling and it gets deathly hot.
On cold days' good luck getting the heater to work.
Want to do laundry' Go to an outside place. If you so much as leave your clothes you will find that someone has taken your clothes out of the dryer to put theirs in and have thrown yours back in before you get a chance to come downstairs only to be like "I know I pressed the start button."
The parking spots being rented to people who work downtown was also a ----- and good luck getting a hold of someone to get a tow truck if its after five and your parking spot has been usurped by someone else.
Now my ex and I - when we lived there - never did drugs. But i can certainly tell you there were quite a LOT of druggies in that building. That's why we always jokingly call it "The Crackhead Hotel" to this day. I'm not sure what the other person below was smelling but it sure wasn't coming from our apartment. I get random drug tests at work, that just wouldn't make any sense now would it'
As for arguing' Sure, we argued - not that that's anyone else's business, especially considering you can't hear anything through the walls. But not once were the police ever called. The only visit from police during my whole stay there was when I called them on someone on the 6th floor who seemed to be having a ridiculous party. Imagine trying to go to sleep after getting home from being with friends and not being able to because the bass is booming that loud. I was called back to go downstairs and let the police in but they already were on the 6th floor by the time i got on the elevator. When it stopped one floor below, the doors opened to a mass of people strung out on lord knows what.
Did i mention the multiple shootings that have occurred here'
If all of that doesn't scare you, just talk to the landlady. One day she's nice, the next she's mad dogging you in the parking lot. And her way of organizing finances is out of whack. When we were going to move, she tried to say we owed like 3 months rent when everything was paid up.
I remember one day the landlady blocked my car into my parking spot and came out screaming at me, calling me a squatter, saying she knew my ex had moved out, etc.. etc..
Which was pretty hilarious because he literally just left for work moments before I did - she didn't see him' We may have had a few issues at that particular time but not only was it none of her business, but she was completely wrong with the information she had.
What's even more outstanding is that she shares this drivel with anyone who dares speak to her. Is that the kind of place you want to live in'
Trust me, you can find way better downtown. The view in nice, but the hassle just wasn't worth it.
And one last thing. Don't even think of parking your car on 6th street unless you want it jacked. Happened twice.
