My lease is expiring and I am not going to renew. Yes, they lowered my lease for $200 but it is still $400 more than what they are offering to the new renters...
They lie!
When I asked them about the current rate they gave me $400 more than what they gave to my friend over the phone... And when I got upset because of that, they said the offer is only valid for the new renters.
One of their staff suggested the only way I could get the lower rate is to move out from my apartment and lease another one. Sounded silly to me first but then realized they want to collect another deposit as they usually don't give back your deposits, no matter how clean the place be when you leave.
So I considered moving to another 1bdr and pay the deposit for a second time but the funny part is, now the management refuses to give me another 1bdr! They say, I have to move to a 2bdr or I can't get the lower rate. Can you believe this'
I was going to move to a 2bdr last june when my first lease was expiring. They promised me a unit but rented it out to someone else! So I had no choice other than staying in the same place and overpaying for another 9 months!
I am moving out and won't consider renting from any other avalons ever again.
My neighbour moved out last week for the same reason so it is not just me.
Forgot to mention... There have been lots of break ins. And because it is very close to airport and caltrain it is very noisy. Plus my place was right at the end where they keep their trash.
