Maybe I just dont expect too much out of an apartment (a clean living space, a landlord that doesnt enter unexpectedly, no mice, no asbestos, a place to park my car, appliances that work, easy access to freeways, grocery store, etc) so I dont really understand a lot of the things that people are complaining about. How is it that there are people with such definite opinions about the management' Everyone seems pleasant enough to me. They set a time with me to do my very thorough move-in inspection. They showed me everything from the mailbox to the how the ice-maker works. When I have a package I go to the office and they hand it to me with a smile. Theyve done all my work requests (changing a light bulb, which I cant even believe they do and unclogging my tub drain since Ive got a curly mess of a mane) the same day I asked about it. Ive met some really nice people at the pool and at the parties they throw (the parties are great for networking&Im in sales). Before I moved to this area I lived in Santa Barbara where I paid exactly the same amount in rent and had an asbestos ceiling, communal washer/dryer that I had to pay for, 250 less square feet, and linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom. The apartment reeked of cigarette smoke because the lady who lived next door had smoked in her apartment for the last ten years and the smoke would seep through the walls. My neighbor upstairs had a gold medal in night-time Olympics and I heard every bit of it. The landlord would come in to check on my decorating and the heater never worked. When I moved here I was in awe. I cant believe they will actually accept packages for me. I cant believe they change my freaking light bulbs. I cant believe they have parties and invite the residents and have actual food and drinks!!!! Yes, there is construction across the street, but I saw it before I moved in and the leasing agent was very honest about it (not that she had to be, its not their responsibility to monitor construction for a different company). Yes, the light rail and cal train is close by, but that was part of the reason why I moved here so that I dont have to drive to the city. A friend of mine is looking for a place to live in the bay area and she told me about this website. When I read some of the things that people wrote I was amazed. I dont know what it is that these people are looking for in an apartment' This place seems really, really, really nice to me. I also realize that I will most likely get an increase when renewal time come, which I am completely prepared for. This is a publicly owned company and they have a bottom-line they must meet, right'&it is a business after all. I dont mind paying for the luxuries I receive but I dont expect the people in the office to do flips for me when I walk in the door. I just wonder where the heck all the people with all the complaints lived before, the Taj Mahal'
