One of the best apartments, until the rent increase

Good points:
-very quiet (I have only heard neighbors being too loud 2x in the yr I've been here)
-bright apartment w/ high ceilings
-all appliances in good working-order
-parking adequate with garage (pay extra)
-washer/dryer in unit
-mgmt responsive to maintenance requests (although problem might not be "fixed" after 1 visit-- skills of maint guys')
Bad Points:
-10% rent increase after 1 yr (will not negotiate)
In general, I'm sorry to be leaving, because I really like it here, but the rent increase is excessive.
I don't understand all the negative comments listed here. My experience has been very positive.

People come here from other areas, where apartment managers are helpful and rents are reasonable, and they expect the same here in the SF Bay Area. Unfortunately, Bay Area apartment managers view "service" as what a stallion does to a mare, and simply don't care about treating their residents right. So that is why you get so many reviews that are bad -- it is because managers refuse to treat their residents like people, don't care, and thus people from friendlier areas where managers do care are upset and give bad reviews.
