Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
First off, the buldings are at least thirty years old so people should know what they're getting into. The carpets are cheap, the stove is old, and the showers, faucets, closet doors, doorknobs, plumbing, A/C, and heater are antiquted. A lot of things inside the apartments also look worn, so don't expect to be bathed in luxury.
There was a huge ant problem in the fall/winter of 2003. It lasted for about 4 months, and management did spray from time to time but living with all your food sitting on dishes surrounded by water for that long wasn't fun.
The landscaping is immaculate. I see a lot of people leaving shopping carts and dumping trash by their front doors, but they'll be gone by the next day or two. Only upstairs units with long corridors may have some trash buildup, but overall it's well maintained.
Parking is another situation. It's gotten so bad that they finally had people with no stickers towed out of the lots at night, but the towing company became so gung-ho they started towing cars WITH stickers. When I complained they stated that my car had the wrong sticker (assigned parking instead of unassigned parking) and charged me $275. Management did nothing about it. I have an assigned garage space and I usually leave my car covered, but twice the cover was thrown back and the window smashed because my stupid neighbor always leaves the garage door open. Again, management did nothing, despite the rules to close the garage doors at night. Beware! Parking spaces are also very tight, so if you're parked between an Expedition and a Blazer expect to have a row of door dings the next morning.
The front gates are problematic and sometimes never open. There would sometimes be 4 or 5 cars lined up at night, trying to get in, but nobody's clicker can open the doors. Offstreet parking is nonexistant and is sometimes worse than San Francisco.
Despite all this, the rent was only $1k for a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit, which was almost unheard of. For the price you pay a lot of these things can be excused (such as the old stuff in the units), but the ants, vandalism, and towing really irked me.
