If you're looking at the Colonnade, you're likely a student of SJSU. From the outside, it may seem like an "ok" place to live, but nothing compared to the two nearby apartment/condo complexes (101 San Fernando, and Paseo Villas).
First impressions are always important. After trying to get the staff's attention to open the front door for over 5 minutes, you run through the basics. They seem to lack the basic knowledge of how to manage an apartment complex. After filling out some paperwork, they ask for more paper work to be filled out. They are truly incompetent. They seem to have a superiority complex. It is quite difficult to request any problems be fixed, as they give an attitude.
Moving into the apartment, there needs to be alot more work done. The cabinets are sticky and dirty. Forget asking them to fix it, it'll get you no where. The bathroom constantly has a leaking problem. The phone lines in some rooms don't work. What I dislike about the design of the apartment is the mirrors inside the room. The closets have mirrored doors, which wastes a bunch of space.
As for the complex itself, the frontdoor lock doesn't even work properly. The elevators are run down, and occasionally break down. The carpet is dirty, pool is dim, parking in the parking lot is ok, but there is no street parking.
The noise level is quite disturbing, but to be expected considering most of the residents are college students from SJSU. The residents are fairly rude too! Getting knocks at your door at 4am' I expected it in dorms, but not in a "luxury apartment".
If you want a better idea of the problems Colonnade has had in the past, check this link http://www.metroactive.com/papers/metro/12.03.98/colonnade- you've read the other reviews, it should give you a fairly accurate indication of what to expect.
