I have to say, I really love living here. The apt is spacious, the grounds are, for the most part, clean and definitely well cared for. Rent is pretty reasonable for what you get (at least in the New West bldg, I don't imagine the other buildings have the same amenities)...but...
I CANNOT STAND THE NEW TEMP.
Okay, so the main property manager is hardly ever there. Fine by me. She's not killer friendly, but not ever been rude to me. The one who is there almost everyday is her assistant. She can forget things at times but means well and I don't mind dealing with her...HOWEVER...they got this new lady in there assisting the assistant (how many assistants do you know who need their own assistant' weird) who is HORRIBLY rude.
I got my first inkling of how she was going to be when, a couple of weeks ago, I took my garage door opener into the office to have the code reprogrammed as they'd changed the gate code. She gave it to me...and it was kind of difficult...so I said, "Can you help me with this'" handing her my opener. She got this look on her face like she was smelling $hit, and said, "I don't know how to do that, I'm not touching those things!" ]
Thanks for nothing, toots.
Fast forward to last week when I had to call the office in regards to a memo I got on my door. Assistant's assistant answers, and is a little short with me. Whatever. I ask her for clarification on the memo, and she gives me an answer that is totally wrong. When I said, "This is my understanding of x, y, and z," she cut me off, RAISED HER VOICE TO ME, and said, "You can talk to Deanna about that when she gets here. HAVE A NICE DAY." In such a tone that was totally seething and condescending at the same time.
I was beginning to think it was just me, until today....
I was checking my mail, when a helpless Komtech employee was waiting outside (I live in a controlled access building) and needed to be let in. So I opened the door for him, and he said, "Are you with property management'" I said, "No, but I know you need to do work, so I can let you in."
By that time, he'd already rung the office on the directory outside, and GUESS WHO answered' He said, "I'm outside 1455 Saratoga, and there's somebody here who can let me in..." Then she cuts him off (seeing a pattern yet') and snaps... "NO. You need to come here to the office. You know that. You've been told that. My maintenance guy has been waiting for you." At which point he said, "Well I'm kind of getting the run around here," then she cuts him off again saying something I couldn't even understand. And then she hung up on him.
Komtech is a telecommunications company. This guy could have easily walked away because he obviously didn't want to deal with her (glad to know I'm not alone). As someone who lives in that building and relies on their services, I'd like to think that property management would treat them better...for the sake of their tenants at least. Am I wrong'
So, on one hand, it's good to know it's not just me. But this chick has a MAJOR chip on her shoulder and I'm hoping they realize this sooner than later. She has said to more than one person that she is a temp. If you were someone who could be called the next day and told not to return to your assignment, and not even entitled to a reason, would you be acting this way' I know I wouldn't.
Hopefully they'll pick up on her tood before they buy out her contract. I'll move in with my inlaws next year before I renew my lease if SHE'S still around.
