I was going to rent apartment here..but go laid off from job...they are trying to keep $600 deposit even though apartment wasn't going to be ready until Mid April and they have a waiting list for the townhouses....what a scam...I have lawyer looking into now! I know they rented it the same day I gave it up

A similar situation just happened to myself...I rented a below market townhome without having seen it; I even mistakenly signed the lease. Well, when I saw the townhome I liked it, I just felt I wanted more space. Because I had signed the lease and my application, they cashed my $600 deposit. But they're not keeping it dummy...they have to process it and mail it back like a regular resident's deposit. You're wasting your time and money with a lawyer...you're getting your deposit back! I GOT MY DEPOSIT BACK IN FULL! You were probbaly just being ignorant and didn't want to completely hear the facts.
