To all those throwing down good will and reviewing this place nicely after you've just moved in, kudos to you. For the rest of us living in the Esplanade, the truth is in the bad reviews. The Essex Management team is the most ingenuine, incompetant, and self-serving management team I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. And this is coming from a tenant who is in GOOD standing at the complex. I have stood in the office and watched the management..including the head Manager (Delta Delta Delta can I helpya helpya helpya) lie to the faces of new and old tenants. Such as stating oh so genuinely "I have NEVER charged ANYONE moving-out-fees more than their deposit!"
Wow, excpet for the last two groups of friends I had move out, I guess. And as for dog friendly....well, if you consider getting notices like "Dogs no longer allowed on landscaping" a GOOD thing for Fido... So, believe in the bad reviews, they are there for a reason And after living here for 3 years on ripped carpet and a cracked wall, I choose to throw away my $1375/Month elsewhere. Good luck to all.

I moved out recently and was charged $700.00 for normal wear and tear-normal wear and tear defined by the state of California. I spoke to the Department of Consumer Affairs about the fees I was being charged for moving out and the State responded "Sounds like your landlord is trying to make some extra money". Read and believe the bad reviews, strongly reconsider if you want to move into the Esplande.

I agree with everything said above!!! PLEASE believe these reviews and look for ANOTHER apt place to rent from. This company is aweful!! I will probably not see ONE penny from my deposit and I keep my place spotless...no holes in the walls, etc!! I totally regret EVER renting from this space.
