I have about had it with this place. All we are to them are Dollar Signs. There is NO customer service what so ever. When I have had a problem inside my apt or with the property (garbage cans out for days at a time and not returned so we could place our garbage in them) it has never been addressed.

The property looks great during the weekends. That's because you don't see or HEAR what goes on on weekDAYS!! On 9th Street, the lunch trucks receive deliveries starting at 3am - forget about leaving your windows open for fresh air. THey last until late afternoon. But you get to hear the lovely backing up of trucks all day long. Thankfully they've moved but not EVERYTHING!! And NOW they are tearing a building done. You think they are done but just wait...they are building 40 new Homes on that lot. So, there will be TONS of construction (dust, dirt, and noise) for quite a long time.

The beer smell from Gordon Birsch (or how ever you spell it) is aweful!! It makes me sick. Its SO bad you have to close your windows.

The airconditioning is NON-existant. You run your air to cool the place down but it never happens!! All it does is run your electric bill SKY high. (Vaulted ceilings...such a draw back, and being on the 2nd and 3rd Floors doesn't help either)

The fact that they say they are pet friendly is no longer the truth. They SAY they no longer allow dogs on any grass. They supposedly made this special "area" for dogs to do their business. Its full of SMALL pebble/rocks and 2 trees and is NOT fenced in. I have a small dog and the rocks get into his paws. I REFUSE to allow the discomfort for my dog and just walk him around the property - as many do - and have never had anything said to me. Jacque has even talked to me while I was out...and said nothing. They often run out of doggy bags too and take weeks to replace!

Our security deposit is non-existant. We will get NONE of the $700 we paid because YOU have to pay for ALL of the wear and tear on your apt. I don't even THINK they clean it the way they SAY they will for the next tenant. I know when we moved in (never thinking about it) our blinds were a mess and there was dust Everywhere!!! Did I say anything, NO but guess what...they are going to charge me for it anyways now - and its not even MINE!!

This has taught me a VERY important lesson...NEVER rent from an Apartment Management Company! NEVER!!! I don't care HOW nice or HOW cheap it is...in the long run, its not worth the headache of it all.
Please, read the other reviewed and take it ALL into consideration and please find another place to rent from, like a PERSON rather than a company!!! I mean, they are charging ME $25/per gallon of paint to paint my walls!!! Its just not what you want when you leave a place in GREAT condition. There's NOTHING we can do about it either.

Good Luck to you!

I wrote the previous review & reading this I am compelled to reply to this post only because the majority of the things you are complaining about are not even the Esplanade's doings. Yes there is construction on 9th, what can they do about that, they can't move the complex, or make the construction stop it sucks if you face 9th, but I'd hardly blame them for this. Also if you are aware of the construction, then you are also aware of the fact that it is taking place where the lunch trucks used to be, they are subsequently not there any more, so why complain about something that is non-exsistant? And for the record they never started at 3am, they did start at 6am which is still pretty un-godly, but let's be truthful here.
The brewery smell, which is pretty infrequent, is not the smell of beer, it's hops which is an ingredient used in brewing beer ( my dad owns a brewery in Texas). The Gordon Birsch brewery only emits the smell like once a week for a short while, I know this because my apartment is right around the corner from the brewery, it doesn't bother me, but hey I don't know maybe I'm just used to it, but come on you can't blame the apartments for things beyond their control.
As far as the dog thing goes, I don't know, my dog is living at my mom's place because she owns a house with a yard which to me is what a dog deserves, I hope they don't tell you that you have to take your dog to the one area, they probably do not seeing as how I see people walking their gogs ALL OVER, but again I'll say I don't know anythong about this so I guess I shouldn't even be commenting.

I agree that if you knew about it when you moved in then you have to deal with the construction and brewery. But that shouldn't stop you from moving out after your lease is up. In addition, this forum is for potential renters to review what current residents are saying, and I want to warn them that the construction and brewery are awful and you should stay away from this place. Far far away!!! It's true that once the construction is done that the lunch truck complaints will be non-existant, but wait until after its done to rent here.

LOL I tried to rent at Esplanade and they had me pick out an apartment based upon a map but couldn't show it to me. I had only a weekend to find a place because I was coming from out of town. So I picked one out and wrote a check and while they were running my credit I walked over to where the apartment was located and it ended up being one of the ones facing the roach coach parking lot. So I went back to the office to ask if I could pick a different one of the 5 they let me choose from and they said no. So I took my check back, ripped it up, and left. I ended up renting at another Essex property: Waterford Place. After reading this review I'm pretty glad I didn't end up keeping that place on 9th. It's too bad because the apartments do look really nice on the inside and I like how the garage spot is right in front of the door.
