Pros: Large apartment, lots of storage space, pets OK, nicely landscaped, it was close to my job.
Cons: Parking second car, ants everywhere, poor maintenance, old building, lots of neighbor noise, expensive utilities.
The place has lots of room, but its not well laid out. The age is clear in the rattling windows, the cracks in the walls and the paint and door that never closed on the cabinets. The ceiling fan never worked, nor did the patio light they said they would fix. The bath tub had a slow drain that nothing could be done about.
Ants were a constant problem in every room despite constant complaints and frequent spraying. I gave up on them towards the end because with the strong odor of insecticide when I came home, I could imagine what it was doing to my cat.
My apartment was downstairs and I could hear everything the young couple above did... I mean everything, the arguments and the making up afterwards. Everytime they walked the windows rattled in their sills. Their television and stereo noise were my constant companions.
The apartment was all electric with floor heaters and a wall unit for A/C. Heating was inconsistant and the A/C never made it back to the bedrooms. Even turning everything off when I left for the day and being gone 12+ hours a day my average bill was over $60, about 30% more than any other place I've lived in the Bay Area.
Tenants are assigned one space per apartment and there is no place for guests. Outside of that space, parking is difficult. Uncovered spaces are gone by 7pm as well as street. Towards the end of my stay, almost half of the covered spaces were vacant but as soon as I parked in one I was cited by the management.
