THE GOOD...
So far, my fiance and I have lived here for about 8 months. In this time, we have had no problems at all. Maintenance folks are great. We had a bad outlet in the bathroom vanity (blow dryer kept tripping it) and the guys came out and fixed it the day after we asked for help on it! The MB in all the apartments here ARE HUGE. You will not find any other MB this big in any apartment complex anywhere in Silicon Valley for the price you pay. For what you get, this is an awesome place to live and have yet to find anything comparable. Our lease is up soon, but I've heard from the neighbors that they are raising rents soon. After reading the other horror stories on this, I'm bracing us for the worst! If you are planning on looking here, my suggestion is to try and get an apartment close to the tennis court (more parking) or apartment closer to the west side of the complex (near the leasing office..again..more parking). We recommended apartment to friends who also moved here, and some locations have terrible parking! Also..do not get an apartment close to the entrance of this complex. Try and get as far away from the entrance as you can! Reason being is that the fire station is just down the street. If you are a light sleeper, this would probably be a nuisance to you. At Christmas time, they left a poinsetta (sp') at the door of each apartment. For birthdays, they send you a card! We were truly amazed at that one!
THE BAD...
Okay..so nothing is perfect.
1. Rent is a little higher than normal. We have the 1/1 and it is $1349 a month. By area standards for a 1/1, this is on the higher end of the scale. However, the apartment is 860sqft WITH a 1 car garage and unlimited parking. This is a 2/1 at most other places which will only give you 1 assigned parking space.
2. As with most apartments, don't piss off the Manager! She will only make life hard on you. I had a minor miscommunication with my rent check and she had no mercy on me. Was my fault and I acknowledge that, but I thought she could have gone a little easier on me.
3. On the back side of the parking lots, are some of the assigned covered parking spaces. What makes no sense is that the management assign these spaces to people who have apts literally 2 buildings away. So what these people do is not park in their assigned spaces and park in the guest parking. What a waste!
4. If you move here, TURN ON ALL THE LIGHTS DURING YOUR WALKTHROUGH! We found a big huge spot on our rug in front of the washer/dryer unit after we had signed off on it. Luckily I have worked in the carpet business in a previous job and I know how to clean it...but someone else would probably have to eat it on the check-out.
5. THE BIGGEST TURN OFF....every 3 months or so management has a garage inspection. I own an older car which I keep as a project car and a motorcycle which I keep in my garage and they always harass me about keeping a non-operating vehicle in the garage. DUH...both vehicles have current tags and insurance. Get a clue! It is pretty funny after these inspections watching fellow neighbors cleaning out their garages!
6. Mailbox is on the other side of my building. A little bit of a walk, but I feel so safe walking around here..it doesn't really matter except when it is raining.
7. The one person who mentioned the fee for garbage/water. He was right. We pay for garbage/water here. Its about $30 bucks a month. But you know what, I have a 100 gallon fish tank, take long showers, and throw out tons of garbage..its all good I guess.
As you can see, most of the complaints are ticky tacky items. We love living here, but our wedding is coming up and we are looking into a cheaper place to save money. However, I don't know that we would want to move since things here are pretty good! This is a great place to live if you compare it to other places in the area. Although you may be paying $200 more than you shuold, we have found it well worth it in ammenities, parking, and convenience.
