Kimberly Woods Apartments
AVERAGE RATING

I moved here on reference from a friend who loved it for 18 months before she had to move. I had the complete opposite experience and struggled here from the first day. It's mostly the office staff. They don't care about customer service.
PROS
* This complex underwent rennovations last year: new pavement, paint
* Roomy and bright on corner units
* Quiet within the complex
* 24 hr maintenance guarantee
* POOLS
* Weightroom
* Close to freeway
* Detached garages
* Washer/dryer available in unit
* Modern kitchen
CONS
* Pet rent
* Sirens daily from the neighborhood over the freeway
* Parking recently regulated requiring visitors to have a parking pass one day in advance of arrival (at least it's not a sticker.)
* occasional 2-hour lunch breaks for office staff
* management/maintenance/vendors enter property average every 6 weeks
* Expensive for the neighborhood/economy
* Rent is automatically raised after lease, regardless of current economy. Would have saved $200 a month to move out and back in at lease end.
* 60-day notice to vacate apartment
* Required Renters insurance.
Examples:
* After putting in my notice, I canceled the renters ins. Was threatened with legal action for breaking my lease. Office didn't notice the cancellation date was the day after I moved out.
* Submitted keys and forwarding address in a plastic bag upon move-out. They threw out the forwarding address without noting it in my file. Deposit mailed to old address to await forwarding. It's the little things.

I recently moved out of Kimberly Woods and had a completely different experience. Once I gave my notice to the office they sent me the necessary paperwork right away. On that paperwork there was a section for my forwarding address. I also received most of my deposit back and in a timely manner. I lived there for three years, before and after all the renovations and loved every minute of it. The office staff was great! They were always friendly and willing to help us.

This is a fair assessment from when I lived there in 2007.
Also, when I moved out I provided my forwarding address and watched them note it in my file while I was in the office. Two weeks later I get a call from the office asking for my address to send my refund.
Oddly they charged me for cleaning, despite the fact the place was spotless (thanks mom), but they didn't charge me for failing to return all the keys (damn flakey roommates). So in the end it all worked out.
