Yo!

The Real Deal

Ive lived here for a few years now. I was going to write a short review, but after reading all the other ones - Ive got to correct a few things.

No matter where you live, things are going to change. Whether it is management or the grounds or even the apartments themselves. So get over it. Grow up. Understand that they are doing the construction to make the apartment complex a better place to live. Understand that it will probably mean that when they are done - they will ask you if you want to have one of those condos and make a deal with you (if you are a curtious, loyal tenant). Live through that year of construction knowing it is a minor eye sore and that it was not up to the managers to tear down the buildings in the first place. They could not control that, so dont dog them out about it.

As for the management team itself, there is an unpleasant turnover rate - but with so many obnoxious tenants - can you blame them' I mean really. Kristi has always been helpful, curtious and considerate of anything I or my family needed to speak with her about. I think she likes the apartments and she is trying hard to change the "bad image" everyone is trying to give it. I have not dealt with the new manager, however, I still stand by my opinion that Kristi should have taken over the apartments.
As for calling the office and getting the answering machine, yes, that is a problem also. I think they need to have a receptionist. They cannot sit at their desk all day and answer the phone. They have apartments to show, leases to get signed, maintenance requests to get in, etc. I think the construction has a lot of people complaining and everyone is taking up so much time that they are not in the office much to answer these calls. There needs to be a receptionist at least until things get settled down. I wouldn't even mind if they forwarded their phone to my cell and I would help them screen the calls (providing they paid my cell bill).

Parking is a problem with the construction going on, but it was a problem before hand, also. I think they should assign one parking space for the one bedrooms and two parking spaces for the two bedrooms. And if you want an extra space after that, you can rent one - or you can just try and beat everyone home for the visitor parking. Ive talked to Kristi about it before, but it was out of her hands.

As for the maintenance crew - well - I have had problems with there services in the past, but it seems to be getting a bit better. I think they should have another maintenance person to help out, though. It seems to me the delay in service would 100% better with a few extra hands around. Ive never had a problem with any of the maintenance personel talking "crap" in my apt while they are working. I think if you have a bad attitude about whatever has gone wrong with your apt, it is only going to be a natural reaction for them to get a little defensive. They are there to fix your problems - not hear nagging and complaining the whole time. Besides - anyone with enough common sense would know that older apartments spring leaks or need some sort of repairs done to them once in a while. Its not like these are new apartments. Show some common courtesy and youll get it back.

As for the reduced rent for the construction, I think there should have been a deal (I say should have been - because I do not know if there was or not) - anyway - there should have been a deal worked out with the tenants in the building next to the construction for a month of free rent. I dont think that would have been too much to ask for. I do not think that deal should be throughout the entire apt complex - because I am near the middle and I am not bothered by it. I think some people are just looking for a free ride.

I dont think this is a bad place to live. It is around shopping, grocery stores, public transportation, restaurants, etc. The grounds are pretty nice and the complex is usually quiet.
