Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007

I have lived at the Laurels for over two years, so if I did not like it, I obviously would not have renewed my lease for a third year! So, I do like the property. I have had no problem with the management. I have had no problems with my appliances, etc. (Knock on wood!)
There are a few things that I wish the Irvine Company would have considered before building the Laurels as far as the interior goes. The linoleum floor in the bathroom is white, and dirt easily sticks in the nooks and crannies of the flooring. When I rented the apartment the linoleum already had a considerable amount of scratches across the linoleum and the apartment was brand new, so I have no idea how much this mess will cost me when I do move out! The other major part of the apartment that is very difficult to clean is the white wooden baseboards surrounding the entire apartment. All types of dirt and dust stick to these baseboards and no matter how hard I scrub, it seems impossible to clean them. The carpet is cheap and is difficult to keep looking new. Another thing that has added to the filth of my apartment is the constant construction. I can't go sit on my balcony because it is filled to the rim with dust and dirt. Yes, I sweep, wipe, and everything I can possibly do but I can't keep up! It is terrible since the view of the mountains is incredible!!! The windows and blinds are also suffering from the construction, they are always filled with dust and dirt and I have to constantly dust but also can't keep up with the construction. Those a few of the things that I am very worried about when I move out as far as cleaning goes.
I was the first tennant to move into the Zanker side of building 2. At the time, Zanker was not as busy as it is now since the Redwoods, and Sycamores weren't built at that time, and the road was not widened either. Now that Zanker has been widened to accommodate the constantly increasing amount of traffic, I can hardly sleep, I cannot read or watch T.V. in peace unless my windows are closed. This is costly because I have to have my A.C. or heater on all the time. My suggestion is to really check out the location of your apartment before you move in. The mountain views are gorgeous but are you willing to deal with the traffic' I wish that I made a better decision as far as location goes.
Fellow residents... well this is a totally different story. The neighbors here, I hate to say it, are the rudest I have ever come across in my rental history. They are either full of themselves, or they seem very racist. I try my best to be a good and friendly neighbor, but I am learning that it does not pay off. It seems as though it is very difficult to get a hello or thank you from a fellow resident... it's like pulling teeth! I am just stating MY experience, I am sure that others have different experiences. I have been spit on twice one time each from two different tenants, because I did not know the rules of that particular race. I just believe that we are all in America, I do my best to be friendly to you, you should also embrace America now that you are here, and then we can all get along and live as friends. Sometimes it is frightening riding in the elevator with some because you never know what you will get, but I just have to keep living my life.
I have serious problems with the way some residents could care less about keeping this nice community clean. They dump their unwanted mail on the ground rather than in the trash, spit in elevator, drop spaghetti sauce in the elevator and do not clean up the sauce or glass. This is a nice and clean community most of the time, it would be great if everybody took care of the messes they made and did not trash this place. One good thing resident wise is that the walls seem to be very thick because I do not hear my neighbors on either side of me. I do hear the neighbors below me which is weird!
It is nice having the washer/dryer, A/C, Heater, underground parking, and having access to all of the features of every complex within Northpark Village which includes every pool, every exercise room, etc. etc. etc.
This is by far the best complex that I have ever lived in, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. I have friends who lived at the Pines and Cypress, and the Redwoods, and they all loved living here at Northpark as well. My friends who moved out of here only left because of the price increases... very understandable. Anyway, that is everything in a nutshell! I really hope that this helps anyone who is interested in moving to the Laurels! If you want more info, leave a reply... I am not management, I assure you!!!! vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l

Hi there, welcome to the complex! I have been lucky, (knock on wood) that I have not witnessed or experienced any car break-ins while living here. I have heard about them at North Park as well as the surrounding areas. I do not leave any valuables in my car so that may be why I have not experienced any theft. When touring the Laurels, building 1 was the only completed building, and I spent a considerable amount of time walking around on each floor listening to the sound of people walking in the halls, etc. I was going to move into a first floor apartment but changed my mind after hearing the noise from the second floor, so yes having a 4th floor apartment does help a lot with the noise. I still experience the building shaking and noise of doors slamming, and people walking through the hallways, but I think it would be louder on any one of the lower floors. Can you switch to a 4th floor apartment? If you can, I believe that you would eliminate a lot of the noise. I have never heard music from my neighbors, but I live near the busy road, so I can hardly hear myself think, so that is probably why! Let me know if you are able to switch units! I hope that this helps!

hi, I believe as long as it's an upgrade (pay more than you do right now), you can move anytime you'd like within North Park. We are considering moving to the top floor, but haven't decided yet. Glad to have your opinion to help making our decision. Thanks!
