Living experience is OK, but BAD move-out experience

I have been living here for a year now, and have to move out due to work relocation. The enviroment is good, although a bit crowded in the yard and parking space. The equipments and utilities are new and nice. Work orders are filled quickly. Sound isolation is poor, or maybe just I got a noisy upstairs neighbour' Have to deal with excessive noise from above. The management can't do much beside sending a few notices.
However, when I need move out, I was told to pay $125 cleaning fee, $60 carpet cleaning fee, and $75 paint fee out of my security deposit. I don't smoke and I tends to keep my apartment very clean. I usually get most of my deposit back, if not all, from my previous apartments. But the Laurels' manager says they will charge it anyways no matter how clean it looks!!! They never mentioned this when I came here and pay the security deposit. It's suppose to be security deposit, not tenant-paid cleaning fee.
Don't understand why they want to rip off this type of money for such an expensive apartment. Think twice before you make the choice to live here.

I got a $125 cleaning fee...Even though I mercilessly scrubbed the place down...But they obviously have a detail crew come in, no matter how carefully you clean, for consistency. I also had a $300 carpet replacement fee, which was legitimate because I did abuse the carpet over three years. I didn't get a paint fee because I never bothered to hang any pictures. Frankly, in my experience with big management companies you should always expect some of your cleaning deposit to be siphoned off.

We recently moved in to The Laurels and our leasing agent did tell us about the fees they charge for cleaning the apartment when we move out. So no unexpected surprise when we move out. The reason they charge you is because they expect that you leave the apartment exactly the way is was when you move in. (ours was very very clean and in excellent condition) They standards are pretty high.

If their standards were high, they would hire a property manager who exhuded high standards in how she handles her communications with her tenants and her staff, and who knows how to do her job well without getting everyone upset with her. It is funny how biggeek clearly backs up the manager. Biggeek sounds like the manager's messages. She is sitting in her office responding to people's postings. Siphoned is a pretty big word, even for a manager who has no diplomacy in dealing with her tenants. She's lucky to still be there. Thank your lucky stars
