I moved into the Laurels this fall and ever since I had plenty of bad experiences:
1) Construction on the corner of Tasman and Zanker
This just started a week after I moved in!! They are building condos on the corner of Tasman and Zanker. Construction starts at 7AM even on SATURDAYS.. I went down to the leasing office and complained. They obviously knew about it when I signed my lease but never told me. I just noticed that the prices have gone down since the construction started, which is one week after my move in date. Totally unfair...

2) Problems with move in
The apartment was a MESS on the day when I was supposed to move in, unbelievable. Everything was dirty, stained and my windows were broken.. They fixed these since then but it made my move in a very uncomfortable experience.

3) Cable TV and internet
As others mentioned before you are forced to get ATT home entertainment for cable TV and regular ATT DSL for internet. Since they are different ATTs forget about any combo deals. Be prepared for a rip off.

4) Safety
I heard several horror stories from stealing the fuel from your car to breaking into your car.. Thankfully this has not happened to me yet. However my door mat was stolen! Who would steal a door mat'' I think it tells you everything about the community...

5) Price
Totally overpriced. I would not mind paying a premium but with the problems that I had I think it is a rip off. I would be better off renting something closer to downtown for significantly less.

6) Visitor parking
Forget about it, none available.

Overall I am very disappointed and can't wait until my lease is up, only 11 months to go.. :-((

Pretty much spot on, especially with the move-in conditions. We indicated what was missing/broken and they never came back to do anything about it.

Totally unfair... Sucks not doing even the most basic due diligence before you sign that lease, doesn't it? Sucker! eternalhappiness: you should not have to write a term paper when you move in to a place. Due diligence, aka looking and a new apartment and it's environment isn't anywhere near the effort of a college-level term paper. Sorry your community college experience hasn't prepared you for the real world.

I hesitated in responding to you, but I just want to say one thing to you: you are one angry and unhappy human being. You should do some soul searching. God is watching you. You have evil written all over you!
