I first read these reviews to help eliminate some bad options that are given by apt. mag's and websites. I saw North Park and knew that I wanted to move here just from the pictures and all the great amenities they had. I searched sites to find out what peoples experiences were with all the North Park properties and had crossed my fingers that this place had good reviews. After reading through all the reviews I didn't want to spend my time looking at the place.
I was starting my day off at Starbucks and planned to see only 2 places in North Park, when I started talking with a resident of the Laurels who told me how great it was and how much they enjoyed living there. I decided to add the laurels as one of places to see. I was BLOWN away by how great the staff was and how they were able to find what was looking for. They had been the second place on my list to see and that was all I needed to see. I fell in love and have had a great experience thus far. I would recommend this complex to my family or friends any day. After reading the reviews and seeing what had been written I told my consultant that I would defend what I now know. This is the truth!!!!

You forgot to mention you're either an employee of North Park, The Laurels or Irvine Company. Your review reeks of BS as you cite nothing in particular and simply paint this broad-based picture of rental bliss. It simply reads like an ad to lure people in. Try again.
Anyone looking to move in here should take all the other reviews very serious because they're the real deal. I'm not saying that it's all bad here. In general, the area has proven to be safe (for me). Grounds are kept up well, neighbors are pleasant and the staff is usually okay at dealing with problems...BUT...there have been and are persistent problems...
Off the top of my head: elevators constantly broken, drive gates not working, lack of pest control AKA MAJOR FLEAS during summer, horrendous trash rooms, trash piled on the floor in the garage, exterior lighting not working in some places, unsatisfactory apartment maintenance and the God awful "exclusive" ATT Home Entertainment community satellite.

I lived in The Laurals for over three years. Elevator service was rarely an issue. The garage gates occasionally had their problems, but it wasn't like the garage was wide open for thieves as there was a security guard in and out of there 24x7. I never experienced problems with fleas, but then again I was on the top floor with no pets. I agree that the trash chutes rooms needed more cleaning and should be locked out after 10PM. I also agree about the sucky ATT Home Entertainment SDTV community satellite service...Which won't be upgraded to receive HDTV programming until 2011. You need an apartment with a balcony facing south and pay for a dish set-up to get DirectTV/Dish Network cable HDTV programming. PS: eternalhappiness is a conspiracy theorist that believes in UFOs, bigfoot, chemtrails, mothman and that any positive comment comes from Laurals management.

You've got to be kidding...your message is so ridiculous. I know people who got stuck in the elevator and who had their cars broken into. The Security had been cut down because of your budget issues Community Manager. Likely you did experience problems with fleas, YOU ARE ONE! A parasite. Funny, not many people have the insight that the management has, and the message above is conclusively posted by someone who knows "what's yet to happen". Stop smoking what you're smoking, and the chances that anyone would post a positive comment about you COMMUNITY MANAGER specifically is very slim, speaking of slim, get on a diet or something, because with that attitude you are more than a flea repelant!

i dont know if there is any security in the laurels. we got locked out once around 7 pm. two other residents along with myself tried calling their emergency hotline at least half a dozen times. No response!! I activated the door alarm at the garage no less than 10 times. No security, still!!! After 3 hrs, I finally decided - better to call a locksmith and get the keys done. The other two residents helped me call a locksmith and finally I got inside about 15 mins past 10 pm.
