What's likeable about Miraido Village: Office Staff is very helpful and friendly
Maintainence Crew works really hard to keep the grounds looking great and reacts quickly to work orders
Quiet and low-key
Modern appliances and building, tasteful Japanese motif (rice paper in windows, very little storage space)
Terrific location--easy access to 87, 280, 101, and 880, in Japantown (Japanese food, shops, and events), 15-minute walk to Downtown San Jose
Where Miraido Village falls short: This gated community is no longer gated--two of the three gates have been out of service for quite a few months now
Riffraff has made its way in--vomit in the hallway, cigarette butts left behind, spit on sidewalks, building doors (normally closed and locked for security) propped open for visitors (even though a call box system exists)
Overall, recommended, but with some reservation because, unfortunately, the new residents seem to be showing a lack of respect for this nice little community

This riffraff does not seem to be present anymore (July 2006). That is, at least building 560. This being that the apartment management is right next to the entrance, and always makes sure the door is closed.
