This is the worst apartment I have ever lived in (and Ive lived in some bad ones)
They cut the water on us more than 5 times without warning, including once when I was in the shower. I had to use the water I had in the fridge to get the soap off and was late to work. I had a 2 br and should have had 2 parking spots but was refused, resulting in my roomates car being broken into and his stereo being stolen because he has to park on the street. The area around the complex is a horrible area although it looks nicer that it is. A newborn baby was found near a dumpster unfortunaly the baby wasnt alive. It was horrible. We would have people sifting through the trash looking for stuff, i'm not sure what it was other than its nothing i approved of. The dishwasher rack was broken and rusty meatal was exposed resulting in my dishes getting rust stained. I told managment about it both before and after the distruction and they refused to replace it. When I had a problem with the drain the guy who fixed it uses sulfuric acid to unclog the drain and because of it, my apartment smelled like rotten eggs for 3 days. I had managment up to check it out, and the lady only laughed about it saying that she didnt know what it was from, only that she was glad that she wasnt living there. When it came time to get out deposit back, it took almost 2 months, when by law they are to have it to you within 3 weeks. I made well over 20 phone calls, leaving messages with everyone other than the manager and never got a return call from the manager. I was told twice the check was in the mail, but it wasnt until the 3rd time and I had talked to the people at the corporate office that i finally got the check. There is nothing inacurate about what I have said. Everything is 100% true and I have NOT imbellished anything at all! I wish someone warned me before moving into the Monterey. DONT MOVE THERE! There are plenty of other places that have to be a better value and place to live!

I'm a little concerned about reading this, as I'm considering this apartment as one of my top choices (based on price, size, and location). The neighborhood looks somewhat nice, as I've driven around it a few times. Speaking with the leasing agent, it seems like things are beginning to straighten themselves out there. With the amenities this place offers, however, I'll have to see how things go.

This tenant's write up is typical of most. However--- the dead newborn baby was NOT on the property. It was about a block west by a tree on county property at the San Thomas Expressway/Moorpark intersection. To this day you can see a small angel cherub figurine glued to the tree. The surrounding neighborhood is just fine and has a very active Lynhaven Neighborhood Association. It is the thoughtless owner and manager that invite poor building appearances and some dope dealers (on the Cypress Ave side) to bring down the neighborhood. Note that Linda does not live on site. The owner has probably never spent a full day, night or week on the property.
