Don't Rent from any Archstone Properties. Although their apartments are nice and well maintained... They will nickel and dime you.
When I moved in my rent that I was paying was $1645.00. I was not informed that water and garbage was not included. I found out after receiving my first bill. I then saw that my balance each month was $1730.00. I had to pay an extra $35.00 for an uncovered parking stall (highly recommended if you want parking for guest or roommate) Parking is VERY limited.
Prior to moving in I inquired about having a pet and was told that it would be $50.00 a month and that there was no deposit. After getting a pet, I went to add it to my lease and I was told that I had to put down a $500 deposit and the $50 was pet rent.
I have seen 3 office staff employees that were very nice leave and their complaint was about the property mgr. (Araceli) I found it hard to understand her due to her heavy accent and she is not the most pleasant person. Rude and not understanding of the importance with regards to issues. Will get to it when she feels like it. Tried to get her to address parking issues of other people parking in reserved parking and just ignored it. Tried to get her to address pool hours being that I lived by the pool by placing memo on tenants doors reminding them of pool hours and ignored that too. Not very cooperative. Don't care attitude! Don't know how she is still employed
I do not recommend Archstone to any future tenants and I have heard it from others on the property too and have had other friends move out due to the statements above and the rediculous rent increases.
My lease is up and went to get a renewed lease to review and they increased my rent by $225 a month and that did not include pet rent and extra parking stall.
I don't think that I have to say much more and hope that Archstone looks at this.

I AGREE WITH YOU. I hated myself for not doing a research thoroughly before putting down a deposit. They have new management and it seems things haven't change. The manager Bob Philips was a total jerk, rude on the phone. The staff has no idea of special offers, posted on craigslist!!! They rented the unit I put on hold and didn't even let me know, so I came in for orientation day and no apartment for me. Such a disappointment and went through a bad experience. Then they refused to refund my deposit. The staff expected me to call in to confirm my appointment with them and it is my responsibility to let them know. ABSURD or what!???
Hidden fees are surfacing and I have confirmed the leasing agent Michael made up lies to get me to fill out an application. No additional fee for second parking and they will push back the pet rent. Such unclear and non-written agreement, I doubt they would deliver it when it is time to write up the leasing agreement. Push back for how long, 1 week or 1 month? On top of that, they said no low income residents and yet their web site indicates they do accept low income section 8 vouchers.
DO NOT TRUST THE STAFF AT MONTEREY GROVE!!!!
If you are going to rent, make sure it is in writing on what they promised you, otherwise, you will be disappointed.
DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE RENTING AT THIS PLACE.
