RENTER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! AWFUL COMMUNITY & CROOKED STAFF

I wish I have read all the reviews at this place, so not to waste my time. PLEASE BEWARE if you are looking to rent this place, MONTEREY GROVE. The staff are dishonest, using bait & switch to get me to fill out an application, then things change.
I have heard many awful stories with the parking and breaking into cars, but did not believe it....Hoping things would be better as time goes, but some things never change.
As for the price, this is a bad part of San Jose, with high crimes and the prices are the same as Campbell, Mountain View. For $50-$100/month, it is worth it to rent at a better/safer neighborhood like Santa Clara, Willow Glen, Cambrian and Campbell.
DO NOT RENT AT THIS PLACE.

Oh, I just realized that perhaps the staff are jealous that I own a Mercedes CLS 500. This just to prove that money is NOT an object to me, but rather the principles!!!! This is the first time I have ever posted a review and have never experienced such discrimination. With the rental rates dropping dramatically, and many vacacies, you would think they would provide outstanding service to keep an "APPROVED" application and get the tenant in within the next day, after the orientation instead of signing for a new applicant. It doesn't work that way, I don't know how you think you could mistreat & disrespect me like this. I don't know what kind of Asians you have dealt with, but I know my rights and I know the law.

How am I the sore loser? I'm not on a webpage whining about my inability to grasp basic concepts such as renting an apartment.
I have plenty to do with my life, I'm sorry if responding to your review hurt your feelings. In fact with all the errors (not to mention it looks like it was written by a toddler) I actually thought it was a fake one since it came off as a joke. I mean who comes on here and talks bad about a place being "a bad part of San Jose, with high crimes and the prices are the same as Campbell, Mountain View.", yet applies there when there are so many (according to you) better options in Campbell and Mountain View that are better.
See the irony?

You're such a loser!!! Only people who are looking to rent a place would research and check out reviews before they move forward and apply. OR they were unhappy with the service and had a bad experience to warn others so they wouldn't have to go through the same crap. If you're already a resident, still feel a need & find the time to read these reviews....Hmmmm, you must have nothing better to do with your life!!! WHAT A SORE LOSER!!!! Go find something worth while to do instead of checking in for new reviews .....of course, you're stuck with the lease and have no choice but to stay positive....or could it be you're one of the employees.

Monterey Grove is completely transparent in all its efforts to find the perfect apartment for our prospective residents. The Holding Deposit policies are explained in detail both verbally by the Leasing Agent and also located in the Application Packet where it details not only our industry typical time line (72 hours for refund) but as well explains the costs associated with Holding an apartment and the costs of running the Credit Application.
The Fair Housing Standards require that no individual or group can be treated differently or given special consideration; therefore once the hold time elapsed Monterey Grove was unable to refund the 100.00 Holding Deposit for this prospective resident.
It is regrettable that this poster had such a negative experience as we strive to maintain polite, prompt and professional service at all times and endeavor to offer a ??????wow?????? experience to every person who walks through our door.
I for one sincerely apologize for any unhappiness that resulted due to the lack of refund. However as stated above we are not allowed to make special exceptions.

Only you, me and GOD would know the truth!!! PLEASE TELL THE WHOLE STORY & NOT GIVE JUST YOUR PROCEDURES. Policies/procedures are put in place to protect themselves from lawsuit, and not necessarily executed by everyone at all times. PLEASE DO NOT lie and be honest to yourself...You DID NOT tell us we have 72 hours for a refund & you did not give us a copy of the application, even after I have requested for one when I came back the second time about the specials. My only regret is that I failed to read the fine prints. Please stick to the fact, we never put in a request to cancel the unit that is on hold but it is your incompetent staff that made the mistake. You guys rented out our unit and not even apologize & have the nerve to refuse to return the deposit, what is wrong with that picture!??? If you have done your job, just a courtesy call to follow-up if we want to keep the unit on hold or the one on special then all these confusion could be avoided. It is absurd to expect for us to call you to confirm the appointment for the orientation/signing the lease agreement. After all, the agreement was for the unit 01-104. You guys are the ones that broke the lease agreement and not us so don't give us that attitude. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! I'm getting a follow-up calls from other communities (San Marino, Waterstone. Palm Valleys called me with new specials and even sent me a postcard. On the other hand, my application has approved with Monterey Grove and they did not want to service me, to get me move in. They can't even make one phone call before renting out my unit. As if the market has picked up and they no longer need my business. Can anyone see why I am so UPSET???? We will let you sleep on those lies, and look yourself into the mirror that you have lied through your teeth. What goes around will come around....There's no smoke if there's no fire!!!
DO NOT RENT AT THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND TO YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY.
