Stay Away From This Dump

I'm so happy we finally got out of this dump! We lived in this "community" over 2 years and I can testify that this the worst place I ever lived in in over 10 years being a renter.

The aparmnent itself was Ok (we lived in 3-bdrm/3-bath unit on the 3rd floor) - plenty of room and sunlight, in-suite washer/drier and climate control. But everything else about this place sucks.

First, parking or rather lack thereof. You get one carport per unit, even a 3-bdrm one! In any other places I lived in, even 2-bdrms had two parking spaces alotted. Here, if you're a two-car family, expect to shell out $50 for an extra parking. Guest parking' Forget about it! There's hardly even a dozen of guest parking spaces for the entire community. Needless to say, carports suck, as your car is exposed to the elements. Their carports are also very narrow and people who live there tend to favor big trucks/vans/SUVs, so expect to get a few dents now and then. I actually had my car vandalized by some "friendly neighbor".

Second problem - noise. You'll have to deal with three major sources - highway and/or railroad, cars, and neighbors. If your apartment is towards the northern part of the complex, the highway noise gets very annoying. And if it's toward the south, you'll learn Amtrack schedule. Car noise was a big issue, even on the 3rd floor, because carports are so close to the building and as I've already mentioned, the residents are the kind of a truck/SUV crowd. Expect to be woken up in the middle of the night by car alarms going off due to some jerk revving up his/her truck engine. Finally, noisy neighbors will drive you nuts, if you're not very lucky. The apartments are not sound proof, so enjoy free TV/radio/music broadcasts from your neigbours.

Third, location. There's absolutely nothing in the walking distance, except for a biker's pub, which may be exactly what you want, of course. Also, you will live next door to a trailer park. Enjoy!

Fourth, it's expensive and you don't get your money's worth. You'll pay extra $50-$70 for water and garbage, extra $50 for additional parking, and some more if you have a pet. They will not pass on an annual rate increase to celebrate your aniversary there. Want to go month-to-month after your lease expires' Sure, just cough up another $300 on top of your monthly rent.

Fifth, and the biggest problem - management. This apartment has changed hands within past 2 years from Archshone, which was bad enough to AIMCO, which is even worse. The management is totally dishonest, deceiving and indifferent to resident's concerns. I won't go into specifics here for the lack of space and time, but consider yourself warned. And if you still decide to take up residence at Montery Grove, then get to know ------------------------------, who is a "community manager" there and feel free to flip him a birdie for me.

The only good thing I have to say about Montery Grove is that they strongly motivated me to become a homeowner. Thank you!

This review is bull! NONE of the things you stated are true. Just bitter because maybe you were a bad tenant? There are PLENTY of places within walking distance, you have got to be kidding me! Were you blind the whole time you lived there?

Really? Name at least one other than the roadhouse? And how come 6 out of 10 people don't recommend this place? Is your real name -----------?

Luckys is a 5 minute walk. McDonalds. Jack In the Box. Staples. Unless .3 miles is too far for your lazy ass to walk.

Thanks!!! That really helped me not to sign a lease with this place. The people in the office seems SO WEIRD!!!! I noticed there are many low income complexes nearby. My friends told me about the parking issues....and that manager --- is a BIG JERK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE...Rents have dropped more choices so researched carefully before signing a lease.

This review is completely bogus. I find the only people who have a problem with the office staff are the people who approach them with a chip on their shoulder. As someone else mentioned, the grocery store and countless fast food places are within a half mile from here. Ross, Starbucks and Luckys are all right there next to each other.
