Best Decision In My apartment living life
From: ColbeagleDate posted: 7/16/2009
Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
Having been the typical Student moving out on my own, I started from the bottom of the barrel and scraped my way up each year improving my living situations.
Having lived in Studios, Junior 1 bedrooms, 2 bedrooms with roommates, to now living in a beautiful 2 bedroom 2 bath 3rd Floor apartment. I feel I have reached the pinnacle of Apartment living with Monterey Grove.
Monterey Grove is all that I look for in a home with a phenomenal location, literally seconds from 85 and 101, and beautiful exteriors as well. To begin, the apartments are beautifully renovated, and the floor plans are highly effective at maximizing space. Ceilings are very high and windows are plentiful. Views from the third floor showcase the rolling hills of South San Jose. There is enough natural light during the day there is no need for other lighting in any area of the apartment. The layout of the buildings were clearly considered as there is no room that receives too much or too little light throughout the day. The only downside is bedrooms are a bit small. However this is effectively made up for by the massive size of the bathrooms.
Every apartment no matter the size comes with a full size washer and dryer, conveniently positioned out of the way and accessible from both bedrooms in the case of a 2 bedroom. Each apartment is also has Central AC, while it is not the most powerful AC unit, combined with the quality of insulation keeps every room cool even with direct sunlight on a very hot day.
There are no issues with sound being heard through the walls, music can be played, Surround sound systems can be used, the only time it is audible is when there are windows open or you are walking by and apartment door.
The Patio is large with a private storage room, excellent for relaxing or to accommodate company on a summer day. They are a bit rigid on the rules of patio furniture and accessories but nothing that has made things difficult or frustrating.
Management was and continues to be communicative, punctual and friendly. We receive a monthly itemized statement regarding rent and other utilities. I have not yet have to make a maintenance report but from what I have heard from neighbors, there have been no surprises nor disappointments.
The biggest disappoint is one common among all apartment complexs. Parking. While I am lucky considered my girlfriend and I only have 1 car. for Multiple drivers the parking could be very frustrating. You are given 1 assigned spot and 2 parking permits, addition spots must be rented and unrestricted parking is at a high premium.
Summary:
Good:
Beautiful Apartments, good management, nice amenities
Bad:
Parking, Smallish bedrooms.
